About as much as you did on Lexibug...

I was hoping to separate the body from the pan today but something that paid cash money took priority!

I know that scenario all too well! :)

I spent the whole day working on the '67 getting it ready for sale. Finally fixed the running problem which was causing me grief for the past year. Car running sweet now! ;)

I got a text late lastnight asking about a bike I have so ended up spending the day getting it going an cleaned up to sell. Her car is on for NCT Thursday so that lost out today an means I'm playing catch up. I've to check it over before the body comes off. Hopefully Wednesday.

Well what was the prob?

There was a broken wire running to the coil. It was completely broken but the ends were still barely touching resulting in various voltage readings reaching the coil. Sometimes I'd get the 6volts other times 2.5volts. I had checked the coil plenty of times before but was always getting 6 volts. It was only yesterday going through the motions again that I checked the coil and noticed the low voltage. Had to strip back some of the loom to find it. Starts on the button now just like it use to, and runs really smooth once again.

I was hoping to get the body off the pan this Saturday but things didn't go to plan.....

I did a deal with JDman for the body sections he had advertised. €30 for the sections an I thought happy days so I sent my mate Mick who is helping with the build to collect them. He arrived back at mine in a truck, not a van an trailer, but a 20ft chassis an cab with a grab- Mick is never one for doing things small scale! Before he'd even lifted the sections off I knew they were not going provide much of the repair sections I'd hoped for.

After we'd got them off the truck the condition of the sections did how ever change my opinion of GZR. It is no longer the worst repaired body I've ever seen, the scrap parts had easily the most bodged repairs ever.

Check this out for brown silicone.

Ah well, all's not lost, perhaps we could find a use for this.

The one good panel it did donate was the scuttle tray below the front windscreen,I stripped back GZR's an it's rotten where as it's mint on this.

Yeah John, thats why I posted the pics, makes me feel better about GZR hah, an that car was even primed an ready for paint!! Pop rivets an screws through rust!!!! With both of these cars the time an effort to bodge repairs would be far greater than if you did it properly.

Tonight's update!

I stripped out all the wiring, switches an clocks from the dash. Removed glovebox/door an everything else, dash is now bare. I stripped the loom back from the wings, mastercylinder ,interior lights an engine bay. I've removed everything from the body now, air vents, steering column, bonnet hinges etc. The shell is completely bare an I've started loosening the floorpan bolts ready to remove the body.

Before I lift it I've to weld in braces to hold the shape while I cut the channels away. I was going to refit the drivers door to make sure the B post is lined up as it is rotten top an bottom but I think I'll chance it an weld in the brace without the door.

Mid week progress...good man! ;)

Are you going to run the car without lights, clocks etc.? Would save on having to rewire and would also keep the weight down a bit more too, ie blank off the headlights. A brake light would be the only thing you'd need if you were doing a track day. ;)

Hectic evening, loads of distractions, meeting electricians, talking to builders, delivering motorbikes, consoling the Mrs after some toe rag ran a key the length of her car, but I still managed to squeeze in a couple of hours an got the bracing welded in so now I ready to lift the body. I also cut off some of the interior locating tabs off the B pillar.

I had to brace the drivers side pillar top an bottom as it moving both ends.
