Just in the door now.

This was such an Awesome event and really well organised. Massive thanks to everyone involved and everyone who supported.
Best time of 18.2.
Thoroughly enjoyed the whole day.
Great to put a few more faces to names also.

Thanks to everyone who helped me out on the day or loaned me tools to get sorted. There as a long list, but you all know who you are..

Absolutely delighted to take home a prize for 'Best last ditch attempt' too. There was a lot of people who I feel were mush more deserving of the prize as everyone really pulled out the stops to make it up for the day, not least of all the crew at Dirtyhabits and the Knightlys.

I really enjoyed watching that baja launch, what an animal.

Just want to reiterate what everyone else has said. Thanks to Ben and Dave for everything they do in the VW scene in Ireland, Not just what you have both done over the last few weeks to pull this drag event together, but the effort you put in each and every day to help people out, Whether it's making obscure parts at the last minute or just being on the end of a phone offering advice. It really wouldn't be the same without both of you and for that I thank you!!

I'm not sure what was the fastest car, but Kvinly was the fastest on the motorway.

That beast of a 356 can go!!! :D

That was one hell of a day. Had an absolute blast! And that little car of mine surprised me with what it can do! I posted a best time of 16.14. I'll have to get that down to the 15s for next year now. I know it has it in it somewhere, and I reckon that run where I was giving the Golf GTI a hard time might have been the one to get me into the 15s if I hadn't broken my carb linkage. Luckily a small bodge and a bit of help from Ivan (Thanks) got me going enough to get it home. I really enjoyed it and I have a good few videos to put up. The only thing I'd do differently next year is A-frame the beetle up with the camper. I'd get a better nights sleep and wouldn't have to worry as much if I feck up the beetle (not that I'd want to). To all involved, thanks so much for organising this. Absolutely amazing job.

That's class Pete! I saw Ratty Oval got 15 runs in! That's unheard of, usually 4 here in the US. Unfriggenbelievable!!!! Great job.

cheers britt, worst time was a second slower
theres no more in this motor...need a bigger one(y)

plenty of other 1st timers out there straining at the leash too.

dave and ben had it down like military precision...
hence the possibility of so many runs.excellent stuff lads!

Also lads a big thanks to the lads calculating the times, and particularly for dealing with us all rushing in to get our scores. A really super day I hope it'll be an annual event :D

what a weekend!! I enjoyed every minute of it!! I had some great neck and neck showdowns with Kobat and Kvinyl and myself and Kombinoise were door to door the whole way up the strip but he had me by a nose at the line!!

I got 12 runs in over the day
best time of the day was 18.4 seconds
worst time of the day 19.5 seconds
best terminal speed was 70.8MPH
and get this, best reaction time was 0.000 seconds!! pure fluke but I accepted the prize anyway!!! :ROFLMAO:

unmodified 1.9D non-turbo mk1 Golf FTW!!!

sadly, I had some troubles with the dyno, even after blocks of wood and levers were employed to wrestle it up onto the machine when the wheels dropped into the rollers, the sump was on the floor! The boys couldn't run it like that and to add insult to injury it started piddling a bit of coolant on the dyno :(

Just a reminder for those who don't normally use the M50 on a regular bases...DON'T FORGET TO PAY YOUR TOLL before 8pm tomorrow night! Just ring up and give you reg. and pay over the phone. I think it's something like €90 fine after 30 days!

Arrived in the door about an hour ago, absolutely wrecked but what a fuxking day, absolutely fantastic, I can safely say the most fun I've had in an aircooled since I've started driving them, definitely addictive stuff..!

Massive thanks to Ben and Caddy, great job lads!

Got 12 runs in also
Fastest time was 17.771 (5 runs sub 18 (y))
Best terminal speed was 74.27
Best reaction time was 0.007(y)

Was well happy with the results considering its a bog standard 1500 PreA engine, made 59.6bhp on the dyno run, just 0.4 down from the factory 60..!

The weather was excellent and as the lads mentioned the 'private duels' between Trev, Kobat, Pete, etc had us racing around for another go as quickly as we could. The craic and banter all weekend was unreal, roll on the next one, I can't wait!

Ah man, fooking epic weekend, just in the door, shattered to say the least, many many many thanks to everyone.
Will post times tomorrow, couldn't get it under the 20s though. I think my best launch time was 0.20, the gypsy has definitely earned her keep this weekend. Big thanks to my co pilot Justin as well for a smashing road trip. Oh yeah got pulled over by the garda as well. lol

had a blast but hurt all over and 2 nights of very little sleep .

started with a 13.76 @ 99 mph

second run I took my daughter as passenger and got 13.500 @ 99 mph

then john white as passenger 13.4 @102mph

so the track was getting quicker as I was adding weight so got Darren as ballast and ran a 13.2 @ 97mph

gave john knightly a passenger ride with 13.33 @100mph

then a go solo with a 12.97 @ 103 mph .

then my next run broke the gearbox at the start so game over .lol
