I just took one of these for each side (The pivot part at the bottom, not the whole bike!), Flipped it on its side to get the steery movement and welded a stub axle to it.

Found the perfect road for this last night. Was driving from Carlow to Galway yesterday and Sat Nav took me over the Slieve Bloom mountains on the way there.

There's a stretch of road (the R440), probably about 1.5-2miles long at the Galway end of that drive not far from Kinnitty that is a long, continuous downhill gradient. It has been recently resurfaced so fine and smooth, but it has alot of nice hairpins that would make it interesting...:D

Only met one car the whole time I was on the road so not a major traffic route. And to cap it off, there's a fairly big layby at the end of the stretch that would be ideal to finish in, park cars, etc.

Pretty much the centre of Ireland too so equal hassle for everyone to get there...

Googlemaps pic below (the A shows rough location).

Suggested course, one mile in length, all downhill from start to finish with plenty of hairpins towards the end. Plenty of parking space at start and end...

the road now has been resurfaced so tarmac was taken out wider...great fun...:D

this is the layby, a bit further down the road...into Kinnitty afterwards then for a big breakfast...and to meet an ambulance if needs be :D

that looks ideal, well done Padraig!!!

once we have a few soapboxes ready to race we'll have to organise a group buy of those €10 video cameras.

can't wait for this to come around :)

coincidentally, we weren't a million miles away from your spot on a Breakfast Roll that PJ organised in the past.
