Really looking forward to this.....
Newcastle Co.Down is a fantastic place; I have spent many great weekends there, camping in Tollymore and Castlewellan Park.
Start saving that sterling!

Yes, it is Damon Ristau who did the Bus Movie, I must have enjoyed it at least 20 times now! So excited and looking forward to welcoming you all to the jewel that is Newcastle, in the Kingdom of Mourne. I have been looking forward to the Bug Movie since it was announced Damon was making the prequel, but to watch it as a drive in movie / communal vw experience - now that will be a memory for many a year.

Looking forward to catching up with you all at Jumpstart.

This is going to be epic!

Peter and the guys have put a huge amount of work into making this once off event the best it can be so hats off to all involved.
There are movie premieres of The Bug Movie scheduled to happen around the globe but very few are drive-in movie premieres so this really is an exclusive event.

The Mourne Cruise could be our version of the Californian Caravan which has gone down in VW history and reported in so many magazines and documentaries so there's no reason we can't emulate it. Back in 1984 a convoy was organised for the trip to Bug-O-Rama but by the time it got to Sacramento it was nearly a 200 VW strong convoy..........we can surely beat that ;)

It'll be a VW filled weekend. I can't wait (y)

The Bug Movie is happening on Saturday 28th May and the Limerick Show is on the following day so perhaps a mini caravan of VWs could be organised for those looking to maximise their VW overload that weekend? Convoy to Limerick anyone? That way you're getting two events in one weekend!

Guys,

thanks for all the positive comments and support. Sorta can't believe this is all coming together. A big dream coming to reality. The guys at Newcastle Community Cinema were sold on the idea from the start and bringing all their local knowledge, experience and expertise to this. The Mournes and Newcastle is a pure jewel of a place. Its a very special place for me, earliest childhood holidays were there and then fell for the Mourne Mountains.

I can tell Cathal has fallen for the idea of the cruise - like the connections with So Cal - flip we will do our best and good weather is guaranteed!! You will love the drive along the Coastline. I feel like Dougal: I didn't know you had to follow up one good idea with lots of other good ideas!! If the cruise is going to be significant (which it looks like it will be), getting things passed by the authorities and looking into PSNI help etc. And let's see what other fun we can dream up.

Delighted to announce that Dave Manning Pianoman and star of the Bus Movie is flying in to Belfast from Edinburgh on Sunday morning 29th May the day after the Drive in Movie and joining us for a Lazy Sunday in Newcastle. The fun will continue in the Anchor Bar Newcastle (lunch time / afternoon) as Dave entertains us with stories from the open road and with his music in his own inimitable style.

Dave travels the length and breadth of the US and beyond in Vincent his 1966 Sundial conversion camper that he bought when he was 18, he gigs all over the place.

If you don't know Dave - just watch the Bus Movie on Vimeo or the trailer for the Bus Movie. he is a real character and the real deal - when we were in conversations with him at one stage he went offline for two weeks as he was camping in his 66 Sundial Bus in the Arizona Desert!

Maybe someone can post a link.

Guys we are nearly nearly there with tickets (we promise!!) just nailing down last few legal items with the council. Tickets could go live as soon as Friday. They will be posted to the aircooled communities on NBOC and EIRCOOLED simultaneously so everyone gets the same chance.

NCC are in charge of tickets and how many we can accommodate and are working so hard for us all. Will post up full information as it comes in.

So as well as the cruise, the Movie, we are working towards a Lazy Sunday, where we can all kick back and chill in the Mournes with a vw legend.

Looking forward to catching you all at JUMPSTART - great seeing the buzz about that.

We are pleased to announce that tickets for highly anticipated NBOC Drive in Movie experience in partnership with Eircooled & Newcastle Community Cinema will go live on Wednesday 20th April at 11am.

A presale link will be added to the NBOC & Eircooled Forums on Wednesday 20th April at 11am.
Tickets are limited and sold on a first come – first served basis. Given the level of anticipation we expect tickets to sell out fast please don’t hesitate.
All tickets are sold subject to Newcastle Community Cinema's normal Terms and Conditions. All ticket sales are being handled by NCC, NBOC & EIRCOOLED have no control over this site.
Tickets are priced at £20 per vehicle.
We have a fun packed weekend planned and your ticket includes -
·Entry into Donard Park and to the Drive in Movie experience on Saturday 28th May.
·Entry into the Anchor Bar, Newcastle for the after show party.
·Entry to the Dave Manning Experience Sunday lunchtime / afternoon 29th May at the Anchor Bar.
For The Bug Movie you will need:
A working radio.
We recommend you bring a digital portable FM Radio (with batteries charged!)
NCC/NBOC/Eircooled cannot provide radios.
We are in discussions with the council to allow camping within Donard Park overnight however at this stage permission has not been granted. These discussions are ongoing and we will update you if the situation changes. Other campsites are available nearby for those keen to camp.
Donard Park is council land and all campers must abide with Council terms and conditions. We ask that all respect the good-will towards NBOC, Eircooled & NCC from the council and enjoy ourselves yet within limits and respect to families who are participating. Good behaviour folks!
For those who don't fancy a night under the stars Newcastle has plenty of accommodation options: hotels, self-catering, campsites, B&B's, and hostels.
For more accommodation and information on Newcastle and this jewel of the North area please visit:

Great news. Council signed off on the drive in movie at the end of last week and we can start selling tickets. Now we are badgering them about camping permission in the park. Working hard for you all. Personally, I have booked the entire weekend into the Monday off and booked an apartment for the family!

TICKETS are being sold exclusively to the aircooled community through Eircooled and NBOC for two weeks before going on sale to general public. NCC have set the ticket numbers due to how many cars we can accommodate on the site. We expect tickets will sell out fast. So do book your tickets when the link and tickets go live.

It is our dream to have the vast majority of cars at this ole dubs! What a sight and experience that will be.

Newcastle and the Kingdom of Mourne is pure beauty.

As we get closer I will post about Cathal's Sunshine Cruise to the Movies (CSCM)!!

Thinking meeting 12noon at the Shore Car Park (Osbourne Terrace) in Warrenpoint and taking the coast road all the way to Newcastle for a relaxing afternoon in Newcastle and enjoy the pre movie buzz. Happy for comments on timing, want it to be realistic to give peeps who are travelling a distance good time to get there.

Plenty of time to work that all out. Can chat things through at JumpStart. Get those shades on Cathal!!
