Fantastic job, there's nothing to give the game away and I bet that Tdi motor is great on the road. :D

This was our first trip to Monard and we really enjoyed it. The show was fantastic, really cool seeing cars I've never seen before. Great to meet some more club members - actual real, no foolin' three-dimensional people, not avatars :) We'll be back again next year, hopefully in the '56 (...we can but dream)

Oh and really great pictures Grogg :) Are you a pro?

That TDi install in Theresa's bay is so neat, very well thought out. I love the accelerator set-up and how the radiator has been accommodated. Great work

I think the rad is the one thing that would put me off, but that's well hidden and not an issue anymore.

Nice TDi install!!! I like the potentiometer set-up, fly-by wire makes life so much easier than running cables front to rear.

Looks like an AUDI engine? If they changed the intake manifold to one from a GOLF TDi engine (same engine really) then they wouldn't have the long run of air ducting around the engine bay as it points the opposite direction to the AUDI intake manifold. ;)

Was chatting to Donal, it's a VW Passat engine, can't remember what year. He set the rad back from the grill to let the air all the way down and then sealed the bottom and sides with sheet metal to the front of the panel. Tested it in loads of situations and the needle hardly moves.

How cool is that accelerator set up?

Passat / Audi A4 / Golf .....all the same. Looks like around a '95 engine!

The inlet manifold from a GOLF TDi is exactly the same as the one on the Passat shown but the direction of the 90degree bend is the opposite direction, pointing towards the back of the bus rather than pointing towards the front of the bus in this case. Would save alot of Duct running and might make the install even cleaner looking!

Its pretty impressive to see what people with imagination can do, between Macs v-lux last year, the Dollery's bus this year, and what looked like a kinda wooden trekker at the show that supposedly has been in hiding for the last few years after its creater died a few years ago. I'll be interested to see any upcoming projects. Its lovely to see vehicles that are original, but its equally nice to see something a little different. Have to say, it was a pretty neat job on the TDi engine, and very impressed when I heard Teresa did all the upholstery herself!

The intercooler is mounted on the left side of the engine bay, so the duct run is as short as it could be.

I have the original owner of the wooden beetle on video chatting about it on the 2006 run... Somewhere... Must look for it.

I've studied all types of conversions over the last few years, seen hundreds from gti to tdi and standards to v8's and scoobies from volksworld to the end of the world at this stage , this conversion has thrown down the guantlet to anyone who's doing one , it has the economy of a passat tdi lump and the reliability of a newer diesel - I would chalenge anyone to do a better conversion - a testament to the work done is nobody would know it's a conversion unless it was pointed out ! This bay in the flesh is remarkable beyond belief ,from the start he was told it wouldn't work , Christ did he prove the talkers wrong , Mr & Mrs Dollery a credit to you both , what's that they say about he who laughs last !!!

Thanks kobat79. Not a pro, just enthusiastic :) And I can be Pro for the right price ;)

RE: The Dollery's bus
Had a up close look at this. It's the best conversion I've seen, both on the Irish shores and any version I've seen on the net. Fair play to all that hard work. Jealous!

Wow thats some conversion! I love the way all the electrics are hidden away to give the engine bay a nice clean look. Thats something thats always lacking with conversions but you definitely pulled it off there! Super job. How does it drive?
