Maybe I'll regret this but .. . . . . . . .
Anyone got an adjustable Beam to fit my Oval (LHD) with as much aux parts as possible
I could cope if its narrowed by a couple of inches

.
I drove a lowered beetle (only dropped on spindles - stock beam) daily for 6 years including a Galway/Dublin weekend commute, the only problem I had was the HD roll bar hitting potholes.
I did need 4.5" wheels and 145 tyres but that was no problem.

Forgot what my point was..

Oh yeah - it can work and drive fine, but it's not simple - you will need to consider many other changes;
You won't get much drop (2"?) on an adjustable beam with those wheels and tyres..
Narrowed beam will need leaves and track rods too..
Dropped spindles with those wheels might need 135 tyres to work..

It'll take a bit of effort to make it work.

It's my personal old man prefference. I don't like bone jarring ride quality. Yes you really should drive a lowered bug on the roads you plan to travel before you lower your Oval. Now, I do agree thet they look better with a rake but I'm not willing to sacrafice ride quality for looks. I've gone back and forth in my mind wether or not to lower the front of my 74 ghia Vert and every time I come to the conclusion that I want to enjoy the car for me, not what others see. That is just my opinion, you do what you want it's your car. Most of my previous post was meant in jest though.

go for it man do something mental with it .
too many boaring bugs at mondello this weekend ,

You calling my bug boring???

I can go lower but its not fair to the car! took a wrong turn (stupidly following a celica) and ended up on a bog road at the back of Mondello, must of hit the road 5 or 6 times!!

Do it Deckie, if you want a spin in mine then no problem! It'll suprise you!! Dont think theres many apart from Rigsi in the square that are rolling as low as I am on Southern irish roads!

You wont regret it, your car is awesome, you have the wheels, just get the stance right!

Dont go for a full on slammed Hoodride, its too stressful driving an early car on irish roads, leave the back as is, and go for a 2inch narrowed, adjustable beam on the front. (you might have to change tyres with a 4inch tuck).

If you have the time and the extra cash, then Id go for dropped spindles and skinnier tyres too, the 4inch narrowed beam and a one spline drop at the back!

Buy a complete set up so you can keep you original beam complete!

Do it deckie low is the way to go.my 76 bug is lowered 3 1/2"all round and is rough as, but the square is down about 5 1/2 and its very comfortable.A slightly stiffer ride feels better anyway IMO

5 minutes in photoshop! easy! As I said, they are rough, but good enough to get the idea! I just lifted the pics off the Limerick show thread! Here's the before pic! Note the lil bit of camber too in the top pic!!
