Do tell Michael!

No harm done .… just lost control of the car & trailer for a few seconds due to tail-swing, I’ve experienced tail-swing before but it’s a different ball game with the bus on a trailer with the engine out the back..
Thought the bus was gone for sure, in fact for a split second (excuse the pun!) I wished it had so I could control the car to avoid turning over and hitting on-coming traffic.

One of the vagdriver guys stopped with me, he couldn’t believe that the bus hadn’t came off the trailor or the trailer turn over !

We had a lengthy discussion at the show yesterday about regulations relating to trailers, brakes, insurance requirements etc …. well, all I can say is be careful when towing!!!

Justin, if you ever break down give me a call and i’ll be along with the trailor …… although there is no guarantee it wont end up its roof … lol

Michael, I know exactly what you mean! I remember a few years back my own trailer was out of action for a while so I had to rent one for a weekend. Anyway, was heading out the Naas Road doing about 50mph in the slow lane, came across a Truck going slightly slower so went to overtake. As soon as I hit 60mph alongside the 40ft' artic the 'EMPTY' trailer started fish-tailing light a mad thing. I struggled to keep it from sliding under the trailer of the truck. Turned around and headed straight back to the Rental Shop like a Bull in China Shop. Turned out the trailer had jack-knifed the week earlier because a guy feel alseep in his Nissan Patrol while towing a car. Yet, the f#1kers had the balls to hire the trailer out again without it even being tested. If it was a friends trailer I would of said nothing, but a Hire Company!!! They were seriously lucky nothing happened to me. Threw the trailer at them and got my money back. Warned anyone I knew to stay away from them.

My trailer isn't the prittiest in the world but she tows straight as an arrow!

Glad you and bus survived to tell the tale. ;)

And we were only discussing the Passat towing the trailer with the bus on board yesterday.
I'd say it was a slow drive home after that.

At least nothing happened to you or the bus.

FFS Padraig, we've moved on from that subject ..... in fact the above story was only made up to distract from the fact that i trailored the bus to Cahir ...... and it works, note how Beag is saying nice things instead of the usual piss taking!!!

Seriously scary moment and not one i wish to repeat .... drove the rest of the journey at about 30mph and could still feel the car and trailer swaying (even though it wasn't), there is feck all you can do in a situation like that, i was afraid to brake too hard in case it jack-knifed.
I've tried the front to back option (bus on trailer, not underpants) but runs better driven straight up, i think part of the problem was the bus should have been a little further forward ... and a dip in the road ... and the fact that 2 mins earlier i had to push it up to 60mph (too fast i know) to get past a 40mph Yaris (the fecker accellerated as i was passing ... as they do)
