Pick a show or two in August and we'll put it in. We'll need to cover 3 hours driving daily covering 250 miles.

averaging 83 MPH?

in a beetle/bus?

Won't be going that fast, but it'll be broken down.

I'll post a draft running order for people to see in the next few days.

And I'll be bringing my beetle too.

EDIT: All aircooled machines are welcome.

Will you be doing a trial run here, prior to the main event,

Answer to that, No. Its up to people to get their machines into order. They've 1 year and two months.
I did say at the start that people should use their car as a daily before the trip for about two weeks.
That should show up any troubles, we will plan for breakdowns by allowing breakdown time, and I'm bringing a spare engine if
anyone needs it.

You could always go on Eirball yourself if your not sure of the car.

About how many miles in total is the trip roughly from the ferry in france to the museums and back allowing for some detours along the way for shows ect? Rough figure?

Well last year I drove from Wicklow to Dublin, onto the boat, then Liverpool to Dover, onto another boat to France then onto Spa, Belgium, near German Border, return!! That was 1250miles door to door!!!

Google maps!!!! but Id say 1500 or more, depends on whether you drive across UK or take ferry to 24hrs to France direct! Its expensive though!!

I just googled it, Calais to Wolfsburg/Museum is roughly 7hours, 475 miles one way! Holyhead to Dover is roughly 385 miles and 6hrs 20mins.

Roscoff (Cork boat) is 875 miles and 14.5hrs!

Cherbourg (Rosslare) is about 700miles and 11 hours drive time (in a regular car)

I use my car as my daily anyway, so I know its in good shape. The question was just a general query.

Maybe it would make more sense for people to use their car as their daily a few months before the event.

That way any problems that surface, would have enough time to get them sorted.

Just edited the first post as we'll be going from Rosslare to Cherbourg, not Calais. We could go to Rosscof but thats another
200 miles each way and I'd have to start the route all over again.

If your thinking of going, as Graham said earlier Carol Nash provide breakdown cover in Europe. First Ireland don't, just keep
it in mind for this. Or else you really have to consider AA cover.

i would like to suggest 50mph would be more in line as this would help with petrol mpg
haven spoken to truck drivers who weekly do a run to germany and spain this is the advice they gave me
allso when they go in convoy they regulated there speed to the slowest truck ie 1200 cc to say a 1600 cc beetle the 1600 would be out and back before the 1200 left the ferry
