Yes very early 1960s beetles have semaphores.

It looks like a money pit. They're not 'nearly impossible' to find and I doubt very much that a decent restoration would result in the car being worth more than the cost of restoration even if the car was free to start with. Pity to see one in that state - if something isn't done soon it'll be a scrapper.

If you're willing to weld and the vast majority of rest of the work then it'd be an interesting project. Down side is that it'll either be a full time job or take a few years. The alternative is to wait for a bit and pick a good one up in the UK or US.

I'd imagine that the asking price is very flexible, even with the magic value-adding 'barn find' tag - the seller seems realistic about condition.

Cut the dash out and use it to convert a LHD to RHD and have parts spare for the future....

I think its the same car i viewed 8 years ago in Garretstown. Some Surfer dude had it and wanted an opinion on restoring it! It was rotten back then, and the sunroof is a Britax one, so its not even a real ragtop!

Wait til the classic nct is up and running. You will then have your pick of all sorts of vw,s and others,

that will either be too expensive or too labour intensive to fix, or both. Buyers market will be on the cards then.
