Hi

I have joined the forum in the hope that you guys can help me out. I am planning to travel to Ireland in my camper and would like to attend a show during my trip. Can you tell me if there will be any shows/events worth going to during July or August?

I am with the west of scotland vw club ...we meet in Glasgow every month and I am also in the "campervanarmy" a wee club just for vw campers. Oh yes and I have a type 2 bay window 1975 ......bright orange (previously we had it all stickered with Irn - Bru logos...you might have seen the van at one of the shows down south ..Vanfest or Volksfling at Biggar.

Anyway, looking forward to our first trip to Ireland ! I hope you can give me some information so that we can come to a wee show whilst we visit,

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Hi there, welcome along. Where abouts are you going when you arrive. We have a fair few local meets each month which you'll be welcome to come along to.

Hi Audrey, welcome to the Irish aircooled club. There are meetings in Dublin the 1st Wednesday of each month in a place called Stillorgan. It's a small group that meet to check out each others food, get somethin to eat and possibly go for a little run. We can give you details closer to the time if your interested. There is a very big VW show and run in Co Tipperary, in a place called Monard in July. The date has not yet been announced but it will definitely be in July, possibly the weekend of the 17th/18th. If you plan to go to that pm me and I'll sort you out with accommodation coz a good few of the members camp outside my place and make a weekend of it. On 4th July there is the Terenure Vintage Car Show in Dublin which is pretty good also, and you might get to park up with the guys from the various different vw clubs depending on what time you arrive to the event.

If you are going to the North Coast then drop by Rule6.co.uk and they may have some wild camping planned. NBOC has a few members who travel over to Biggar as well ( Russbug and LouO I think)
Welcome to a friendly bunch. I sold a White Splitty to a guy in Scotland also.

thanks for the info!!

thanks for the info!!

Thanks everyone...some very useful info posted. I am off to camperjam in July so maybe come to Ireland in August.....but not decided yet for sure. Got some info on the Eireball run...7th - 24th August. ......would you think this would be a good thing to attend?

As I said I am a member of the westies - west of scotland vw club (the secretary actually!) We will have a club stand at Biggar and we all camp together for the weekend. We run the annual cardboard car race..so if you fancy coming to the show and fancy making a cardboard vw car thats fits two drivers let me know and I will add you to our list of participants. Its a cardboard car rally/race and a cardboard car show and shine..its great fun. For those members who said that they are coming to Biggar come say hello ...either at the club stand or join us for a drink at our camping area. It would be nice to meet some new faces from clubs that we are not familiar with.

Thanks again for all the information. I'll check out all the duifferent events that you have mentioned then decide when to come over. Hope to see a few of you guys at Bigger show,

Audrey

The Eireball is a great way to see the country(a kind of whistle stop tour) and have a good laugh with like minded people.
There seems to be alot of interest from people in the UK this year following the article in Volksworld mag.
See you there if you make it over.

Hello everyone,

I've got almost the same question :)
I'm planning a beetle-holiday to Ireland this September, and was wondering if there would be any meetings I could visit. I'll mostly be around Tipperary, but any meeting in the south-west of Ireland would be nice to visit.

Hope to hear anything soon! :)

Thanks in advance, regards Judith (Netherlands)!

If you're up north dude check nboc.co.uk forum, we've an annual camp out weekend in July (norm last weekend) and possible another display the 2nd last weekend with camping etc. We've also an annual show along with the GTi boys at Cultra, one of Europes biggest transport museums. You should get plenty to go to North and south while you're over : )

Thanks both!! But since I'll be visiting in September, I won't be able to make the events in July and August.

I was hoping for something regional, like in my hometown there is a small meeting every month. It's actually tonight, every third Wednesday from March through October. There are somewhere between 10 to 15 cars, but it gives you the aircooled feeling :)
Maybe an idea for Ireland? :)
