Im off to bed, but i will say folks, this is AMAZING, im overwhelmed by the uptake, enthusiasm, emails, letters, donations and gestures to make it all happen. Even the guy who runs bishopscourt is seriously impressed when i told him the latest on it,in his words " Ive never had a crowd so UP FOR IT, and they havn't even arrived yet" i hope i can do you proud ;-)

night!

check list for racers .

1. crash helmet (builders safety hats not acceptable )

2. reduce weight clear out all the crap you don't need and some .
approximately 50kg weight loss is like adding 5hp to a 1200 beetle and will reduce you 1/4 mile time by 1/2 second

3. there is a fuel station approx. 7 miles away in Downpatrick so fill up after racing. race on a near empty tank , spare fuel in can a good idea.

4. reduce drag , remove roof racks and other unnecessary bolt on tat .

5. over inflated tyres reduces rolling resistance but reduce grip

Im sure ben will add a few more items to the list.

Would a full face downhill mountain bike helmet be sufficient?

My other option is to borrow or purchase a crash helmet, or I have a WW2 US Army helmet that's quite fetching :D

the helmets are not checked , its up to you , I doubt many folk will reach 70mph at the quarter , and you do this speed on the highway.

if anyone has a spare helmet then bring it along as im sure some will forget .

No problem in bringing along blank white circle stickers for the cars
but the vinyl gets a good grip so no responsibility for liftingany paint when ye remove them lads

or if anyone has their number before we go we can make them up too.
All FOC of course......:D

I think the only way we could judge this is with photos of you wearing both.........:D

Ben this is a great idea and fair dues for stepping up and organising it.
If I have something to race before the date I'll be sticking my name down
and if not I'd definitely be hoping to make my way up on the day for the crack/banter/laugh/bullshit/etc/etc

Fair play Beag , wasn't pushing for FOC , just asking if ye could do them if there was interest and we could make a deal , regarding the vinyl destroying paintwork , maybe people could opt to fit it to a window or in Ben and Caddys case their windscreen

race numbers are given out from the timing system at the track and displayed on the right hand side of the car in the rear window so that the race timing office can see the numbers as you line up. you could add any number you like to the doors or just duplicate the race number the timing office gives you.
