No, nothing done yet. I have to get a lot of repair panels together but as soon as the yellow Bug is done then this is the next one to get some loving.

Tim,
Nothing added to this thread since March.
Just wondering how you got on. Did you finish the car?
I'm only starting my '66 resto. Looks like I'll need similar work to yours.
Regards,
Kieran.

justaircooled parts are cheap, but ya get what ya pay for. its mostly all mexican stuff, gauge of metal is way lighter and can be a pain welding to thicker metal butt t butt if your as green as me but not impossible. edges are'nt great they dont bother straightening ripples in folded and bent areas and end of door pillar stuff was so bad i sent them back, they werent even close to been straight, tolerance's for holes and such are only 'if it looks right its right' and can get up your nose. but flat body panel parts for shell are fine ya could also go with vwheritage. from them i tried my floor pans which were good, included rear xmember and jack point, which others dont! front cross member was awful!!! and head bottom plate... a vague cousin of the orig.piece of shit ! again mex with poor gauge metal badly put together and angles were right until trying to fit them in. only good thing is the incorrect shaping follows across parts so the cross member fit the kick plate 'well'... ish but oh and watch out for heater channels the fixing holes can fall out of line as ya work towards the length of the floorpan. left perfect right way out!. machine 7 is like vwheritage but post can vary wildly. vwheritage is consistant but i did find justaircooled cheapest for post too and if ya order lots and email them they will cut a deal. all 3 sell a lot of the same parts. basic rule if its black its mex thin and badly pressed and worked but workable. honestly gotta say all are cheaper than martin he was 20 notes a floor pan dearer. even before postage and on average at least a tenner more on other larger parts. but mec stuff was same same. so went with UK sites as they were this much cheaper including postage. and the more ya get at once the more you save on postage especially with vwheritage and more so justaircooled. but thats this country for ya cant blame martin. but if i lived nearer, his input would justify cost. he isnt out t fuck anyone though and any posted stuff was fast and not expensive. oh and vwheritage have a few quality levels of parts and from now on im going for the more expensive stuff believe me its worth saving. red door pillar ends are the dogs. but if justaircooled have same stuff its always cheaper than all the others iv checked. but their selection is more limited in terms of every part ya could want. also worth a look are megabug in uk. poor website but gentlemen on the phone and if its a real og part they have an amazing back yard.
