Open invite to Autostadt.ie day out, 28th December

Ah, biddlebops t2 and nothing else that would interest me so far. Water pumpers wouldn't do it for me even tho I owned a T25. I would have expected a type 3 as their are 4 in the locality.

I'm not convinced its a 30k euro car. I've seen old original vw's with crisper paintwork after a restoration. And personally if I'm paying 30k I would expect it to be as original as possible. 2 cents

    Anyone cutting up a beetle

1,2 mm is a lot heavier than what panels are available, so they might need a bit of force to get nice sharp contours. Original spec is .8-1mm if I'm not mistaken, but open to correction on it. I found 1.2 was ok for gradual bends formed, but needed force and a former to get a nice sharp bend.

Thats true, but even rusty bags of shite are going for silly money, once it has a vw badge on it. Asking price and what it sells for are 2 totally different things as you know. But as you say a rusty base covered up with either metal of fibreglass is still a rusty base. I wonder how many wizards...

Personally, Irish built or otherwise is all the same to me, a car, is a car , is a car. Aircooled of course. Its only a number plate we are talking about after all. Preferably I would be keener on a german built.

Although in fairness type 3 variants resto's seem to get a bit of an audience.:)

[For Sale: Car] Bargains on DoneDeal

Started off at 11000 a few weeks ago so thats a fair drop in price, not my cup of tea though. Type 3 's are not as popular as beetles, even tho they are rarer and a more comfortable drive. And not everyone is prepared to restore one. I tried for months to sell my white one before the resto, even...

Best buy now then, as they are only increasing in price, and they are becoming more rare, no matter what it is.

Even for a crispy one its not too bad, so solid would be a major bonus, and from the pics its pretty straight looking.
