Not sure how much of a bargain, its pretty rotten in the usual places ..... i'll have a better look over the weekend, but certainly worth it for parts alone.

Brought this home at the weekend, i think its gone too far, it looks ok in the photos but i'm afraid this one may have to die in order to save another!

so where's it bad?

cills, lower part of front clip around spare wheel well, front arches, rear arches, rear corners, basically the bottom 6 inches, it's not just the panels it seems to go deeper, i'll post photos of the worst affected areas this evening.

even with the rot I'd be tempted to buy it complete and have a crack at restoring it. If only the Derby was sold and I didn't have three hundred other projects!!

Would you let it go complete to someone who might restore it or are you going to break it?

it's not unfortunately. As you can see in the blog I have enough rust in my life at the moment!! ;)

I was thinking you'd look well in the ghia with a flashing blue light on the roof...

It wouldn't make sense for me to sell it, too many parts on it that i need for the convertible.

I've two options:
1: 'head ruling the heart' ......... remove the parts i need to complete the convertible and sell the remaining parts to generate funds to complete the convertible.

2: 'heart ruling the head' ...... only remove parts for the convertible that are bolt-on (i.e. no angle grinder involved), then prevent the rust spreading further and mothball it until post recession.

Obviously Option 2 is the preferred option but will delay the completion of the convertible.

nah, f**k it, if it's that bad and priority #1 is the convertible then I say cut the f**ker up. If the cost was justified in the parts it would donate to the convertible alone then it's paid for itself already. If you get a few extra quid from selling the surplus then that's a bonus.

I'd go for option 1 above, that's what I'm doing with the Audi. It makes life much easier when you have a whole donor car to hand instead of scouring the web for bits and pieces.

Its fcuk'd Michael...i'll be straight down to collect! :ROFLMAO:

On a serious note...take everything you need off it for the convertible and when thats done sell it off for someone else to restore if you don't want to cut it up!
