hi ratboy, for someone like me, who hasn't got a clue! How does this compare over a standard engine? I read all the specs of the engine but haven't a clue how that translates into the real world.

i have a van with a stock 1600 engine in it. so how much more horseys would i have, and what about fuel economy? sorry about all the questions!

That's about 75 or 80 HP as opposed to4 8 to 52 for your 1600. With the 120 cam it is a bit revvy for a Bus and your economy will go down some ( mainly because you'll like the power) but you can get Ben or Dave to jet the carbs for best economy. No heat option in that engine though.

It's got 40-45 more bhp and the same amount if not slightly more torque due to the cam,
It'll pull like a train and even with the larger carbs may be slightly easier on fuel, right foot dependent:)
Not sure on van fitment afaik van 1600's have holes on the front for the engine support bar.
Pm Caddy he will be able to tell you either way, be a great upgrade for a van.
Hope the little if any info helps at all

It's 90+ bhp due to the amount of headwork it's had
Thanks for all the support selling it! Remind me to do the same for you all!

Your talking twice the power so, that means the van/car will be cruising at 60 instead of revving it's nuts off so extra power dosnt mean higher fuel consumption, however if your heavy on the loud pedal it will sup a little more!

is it possible to get bigger than normal fuel tanks? seems to be lots more room in there to put a bigger one?

This applies only if you change the gear ratios. A 40Hp engine will say turn 4500 rpm at 60 mph in a Split Bus
Stick in a 100 Hp engine in the same Bus with no other changes and it still turns 4500 rpm at 60 mph. It will however get there much quicker.

The Split Bus came with an 11 Gallon Fuel tank you can put in a Bay fuel tank which holds 15.4 US gallons or have a Custom fuel cell made to fit.

I know my 1914 engine is substantially better on fuel than my old 1300, by quite a long margin, and I wouldn't be afraid to give the car some welly the odd time. And that is a bloody brilliant price for that motor! It should be snapped up in no time.

Can we stay in the topic at hand pls;-)

1 engine for sale
May or may not be slightly harder on fuel than other engines, depending on the driver!
Will put smile on face if driven properly!
THE END!!!
