On the 27th and 28th of September there's a great event taking place in Dunboyne: The Spirit of Dunboyne festival. There will be an assortment of classic cars taking a run on the historic Dunboyne racetrack, and if you book in and pay the fee you can do it too. Here's a flyer with the details that one of my work colleagues had:
It does look like a great event and a few of the lads in work have been to it and said it's excellent.
One of the lads runs Aoibheanns Pink Tie, an absolutely incredible charity that supports families of children with cancer. This guy is really something else, and after losing his daughter to cancer 4 years ago he's done huge things for many other families. He's gained major support from Dublin Aerospace, the company we work for, amongst many others, and has used some of this support to restore a vespa scooter which will be used to promote the charity in a big way. Many parts were donated free of charge towards the restoration. He was a mod so it's quite fitting for him to focus some of his efforts this way. The scooter, called Aoibheanns Pink Scooter, will be unveiled at the show, and there will be many of the children who are or have benefitted from his incredible work present too. Here's a news article with more information...
If you want to support the charity, and it's definitely one that gets my support, you can text Aoibheann to 50300. Here's a link with more information... http://www.aoibheannspinktie.ie/
Beyond this, is anyone interested in going along to the festival?
