Hi trev, was going to try put 5 stud wheels on the beetle, i prefer the look of them. But if I don't get any i'll settle for a set of standard 4 stud wheels.

ah. You're sure to turn up something in a 4-stud flavour soon enough. 5-stud might be harder to find but not impossible. Best of luck with the hunt :)

Hi guys, it has a front beam. I don't really have much beetle knowledge to be honest; you would have to forgive me lol! can you put all five drums to 5 stud easily? Wouldn't adaptors be cheaper? Thanks.

I'm 99% sure it's possible, if you google 4 lug to wide 5 drum swap you'll find it. AFAIK you need to fit different bearing to suit the drums, I think they use type3 drums too as they're wider.
Adapters will do fine depending on your wheel choice an whether you want to run hubcaps. The trouble is you will see the 4 studs an adapter through the centre of a wide five steel. Also you are increasing your track but the thickness of the adapter so if you're running wider rims you may have clearance issues.
by the way, I'm not looking for adapters anymore, I wanted 2 to fit 9j wide 5 steels to my 4lug car for Dubshed but ended up chopping my 4stud steels an adding 4inches in.:D

Post up a picture of your front beam. Most likely its a king and link arrangement for the front suspension which would be factory correct for a '66. This would also carry a wide 5 stud pattern (rather than post '67 4-stud). Also post a photo of your rear wheels. Are they 4 or 5?

I know it's early and you haven't had your coffee yet but you meant to say that a '65-'67 car would have the cross-over parts in the front beam: i.e. balljoint trailing arms and wide-5 drums. Which would make it fierce easy to fit 4-stud drums and/or spindles if they're different (unlikely though).

bugman, you said you have no hubs. Is there any backing plates/spindles/trailing arms etc? Take a couple of photos of what you have and stick them up here :)
