AWESOME, thats that pesky leak sorted thanks to Dave, so i managed to get the gearbox boots changed and fresh gearbox oil and the motor back in, built up and running in 4 hours for the whole lot, not bad considering it doesnt even have a removable valance or access holes in the wings, but my arms are shredded LOL

Roll on sunday!!

Dang Ben that's quick work. Do we need to start an Eircooled Blood bank to refill you every time you work on the racecar? Best of luck with the racing, I wish I were there to see it.

Well, did he?... and did you?....

Great weekend, if not just for the hospitality at chateaux Lawlor, we had a so so weekend, my car shit its oil filter on saturday, fixed it and had an intake leak which mean stripping one ida out and a bit of spannering, we got to bishopscourt early, i have never seen so many cars down there it was crazy. Now to the racing, as i still havnt got a handle on the fuel pressure issue, i hooked up the limiter and set it at a safe 7500, first run i raced paul clark in his beautiful looker with bugbitz power, he absolutely destroyed me off the line, but i managed to catch him and pass him by the 8th to take the win, my timing slip was a 14 something, the event was so busy i only managed 2 more runs, it was chaos. both 13.1 with crap sixty foots, i stepped the limiter up to 7700 and it was still bouncing it before the line, so on my last run shifted it to 8000 or so i thought, seems it didnt store it and stayed at 7700, my teminal speeds were well up at 107mph in 3rd, the car was getting loose and moving around a fair bit on the run down!!!!:suicide:

Onto Dave he threw the fanbelt half track on the first run, and had a sensor fault which kept cutting the motor, he did 2 runs and called it a day which was a real shame, it was ROASTING, i was a bit nervous getting the car home, ive never driven it in that heat, certainly got warm thats for sure, a couple of positives though, Paul clarke ran his looker in anger on the strip for the first time, easy mid 13 sec car and in my opinion THE best cal looker in the whole of ireland, absolutely stunning car. The second was buggboyshane bought "Ivy" to castlewellan and took runner up in the aircooled class (paul clarke stole the 1st spot and rightly so) but he also took runner up in the whole show too, amazing acheivement, he then went on to win best aircooled vw at bishopscourt yesterday, so there you have it a weekend of drama, banter, comeradery (sp) and above all great fun with good friends.

Ah thats a shame you didnt get to beat your record, but 13.1 is still fookin fast as hell in my book!.. sounds like ye had great craic all the same.
When you say your car shit its filter?.... Did it come off?.. or burst???... I know from all too recent experience how scary it can be to see your engine shit out all its oil in a hurry!.. Glad you were able to sort it

The threaded insert in the filter head came loose which slackened the filter which in turn dumped 2 litres of oil over me, pete moore a couple of inocent bystanders and a showcar. Its ok i did apologise and offer to pay for any related cleaning bills and buy the guy with the mint mk2 gti lunch, they were all sound and said accidents happen, whoopsie .

Sound... And sure, better all over some spectators and someone else's car, than all over the road while pissing along a motorway :p
at least no harm done (to the engine :))
