Rang the guy today to get some info. He does italian units, but at 3000 euros for 3.2 ton, thats alittle rich for my blood. He sells mainly if not all chinese units. His price is 1400 euros+ vat for a 4 ton unit, and he's been selling these units for the last 5years. He carries all spares for this model. He doesn't do american units, but says they are made in china as well. Found him very helpful and answered any queries I had. John.

Got in touch with the supplier today, and made him aware that afew guys might be interested in a group deal. His 4 ton lift sells for 1400+vat, but was saying that because the euro was weaker than the dollar at the moment, matching the price of £999 plus delivery was going to be difficult. The situation is, I left him to think about it and see what he comes up with. John.

PJ FALLON & SON

Hey lads. This is Joe Fallon from PJ FALLON & SON in Roscommon, www.red.ie. We got a call from John earlier this week about the lifts, and the possibility of a group buy. We would certainly be interested in dealing with you all. I feel that I need to tell you a few things, as there are so many lifts on the market right now being imported from China, and so many questions need to be answered. We sell lifts that are made in Italy and lifts that are made in China. We do not sell you, or tell you that our lifts are made in Italy when they are made elsewhere. All our Italian lifts are made and branded APAC, www.apac.it. We sell chinese lifts that are branded PHOENIX AUTOMOTIVE. We have been selling the same Chinese lift since 2005. They have upgraded the model since 2005, as you can imagine. We have hundreds and hundreds of these lifts sold across Ireland with very little problems. We only sell the 4000kg (4 Ton) lift as there is only €50.00 in the difference between the 3.2 ton and the 4 ton.
CE Cert - All our lifts have a full genuine CE cert, not just for the motor (like some models) or not just CE for `China Export`. In January 2010, a new European Directive was introduced covering vehicles lifts. This has changed the terms under which all lifts, (both European and Chinese) are deemed `CE` compliant. We do not sell any lift that does not pass an insurance inspection. We have been in business since 1989, and intend to be here for another 21 years.
Spares - We stock all the spare parts that are required, which are minimal. The lift pads are the most common spare part, which are classed as a wearable part.
Price - There are cheaper lifts available on the market. We are well aware of that. If we wanted to sell a cheaper lift, we could do so, but it wouldn`t have the same high level of standard of the actual lift that we are selling.
Accessories - All our Phoenix 2 post lifts come standard with 3 sets of height adapters for vans and 4x4 vehicles, and an extra pad that slides along the lifting arm for shorter cars.
Safety - The lift is raised by a hydraulic ram in each post, which have a parachute valve built in, in case of a hydraulic pipe bursting (unlike most cheaper models). On the carriage of our lift, there is an insert that is welded in through the carriage where the pin swivels to hold the arm (unlike most cheaper models). Some cheaper models have just a hole cut on the top and bottom of the carriage causing the arm to sag over time due to the hole elongating. Our lift also has very fine toothed splindes as arm locks abling you to move the arm very little before the arm actually locks. Most cheaper models use a cast arm lock which is very coarse with only maybe 5 arm positions. There are safety locks in each post, so as the lift goes up, the locks engage every 4 inches or so.
Ropes - One member in Monaghan who bought a lift from us recently noted that the ropes were hard to get on during installation. I can tell you that this is true. The reason is that the ropes will stretch over the first few uses, and you will need to tension them after a few uses. If you fit one of these lifts, you will see what I mean, but let me tell you that this is no reason to be put off buying this lift. The idea of the steel ropes/cables is to balance the two carriages, so that one does not go up, or come down without the second carriage.
Back up/service/warranty - All our lifts come standard with a 12 months warranty whether we fit them or you fit them. When you are buying a lift, you need to think of your back up and the availablity of spare parts. You might buy a cheaper lift, with a lesser spec, and with poorer safety features that may not be fully CE approved, for €200-300 cheaper, but if you need any spare part, or any back up, how cheap is the cheaper lift?? After all, your car may be up on the lift, but, YOU are the one that is under the car.
I hope that I have answered some questions. I know that I am trying to sell my equipment, but just ask anyone who has bought a lift from PJ FALLON & SON. We will look after our customers. If you have any questions, please send me an email to info@red.ie, or check out www.red.ie.
Thank you
Joe Fallon
