Wilsons car auctions are having an auction this Tuesday for Garda vehicles, liquidation vehicles and fleet trade vehicles. Its a great opportunity to pick up a bargain. Thursday they're having an auction for 4x4s and vans. Normally theyre incredibly stupid and only send us the email on the day the auction is on but this time they gave us a bit of notice so I thought I may as well post the info. Theyre just off the Naas road near Newlands cross.

When I was working in the Garda HQ on the kompooters they used to have a fleet of Toyota Camrys that were almost never used (2.2 petrol) - mostly metallic gold, but the odd black one. They were well looked after and washed and serviced regularly. If you got the smell of bacon out of them (from all the breakfast rolls I mean) they would be a great car to pick-up cheap. Also no-one else has ever in the history of the state purchased a 2.2 litre petrol Toyota - so you will never get stopped by a cop again because they would assume only a cop would have one.

Yeah they would be good. The squad cars take one hell of a beating though and are usually high mileage so what you buy may be cheap but wont be a lifer. Theyre seriously quick though.

squad cars are just family cars sure - they are not fast. and they have been driven badly by a spotty jumped up 19 year old twat in a uniform for the last 4 years - i wouldn't buy one for €2. also they are never looked after - the garda squad car contracts are a joke - all about brown envelops and not good service or value - they get their petrol in the most expensive petrol station in ireland in ushers quay - €2 a litre or something. man - why did you mention the Gardai - they really get my blood boiling - biggest waste of taxpayers money in the country. Policing is easy - shoot anyone who is wearing a tracksuit but not jogging - crime problem solved. You don't need idiots from Tipperary (no offence Coxy) to do that job.

Theres a scooby impreza squad car around here. Youre right though. Theyre never looked after. We sometimes get the Nissan jeeps they use in for repairs and theyre in tatters. I had the idea of becoming a cop for a while but decided it would just serve to frustrate me and Id go mad from the lack of cops actually giving a shit. I dont think there's a single organisation in the country so full of people who actually couldnt give less of a bollox about their job. There is of course the good cops but theyre overshadowed by the administration and the cops who dont care.

they use the same statiol fleet card i do, its a standard price doesn't matter if it dublin or galway, so they are not paying €2 a litre but its still not cheap

why don't state organisations get fuel without the 75cent tax on it, the government give money to the gardai to run the force and they end up giving a good chunk of it back in taxes, messed up

Not according to our parliamentary sources.....

Mr. Leyden: The HSE and the Garda Síochána are paying 36 cent per litre more for petrol in a station in Dublin than they would a few miles away on the other side of the city. This is a rip-off of the HSE and the Garda Síochána.
