I would argue that having non-working heater channels is a sign of a bad restoration and when evaluating a car its a sign for me that there's a problem in that area.

In terms of supplying and fitting an engine I'm not sure who'd suit best but in general terms there's Cosy Classics, Emilio's Beetles and Caddy (his username on this forum) who has a very impressive setup for rebuilding VW aircooled engines.

Other posters will probably have other recommendations, especially in the midlands but its a start. Hugo may have a few ideas too.

Thanks again - that's more useful information. I'll look up Caddy and contact him (Somehow that doesn't sound right.....make that "I'll search for him and contact him"!).

I was partially interested in that baby blue '67 myself and gave the owner a ring. I won't be buying it anyway, It's not driveable over a long distance because the wheels are rubbing off the arches. He says it was lowered and is starting to sag. He has a bar bolted in the spare wheel well and when it sags completely he is going to adjust the bar and weld it in place??????????????..... It needs a new interior as the one thats in it is very tatty. There is an engine mount gone, he says. It also needs fuses and the heaters are disconnected. Also it has the wrong wheels for a '67. So "I'm out".
