Between the hinges, the bracket that holds the door check strap to the A post. Mine broke when a gust caught the door the other day.

Do you have a spare drive shaft now? Or do you want to sell the pair?

re the lock number, a nutless monkey could get the code from the barrel, like all VAG cars of the vintage, it'll be stamped into the guts of the handle somewhere, on the golf it's on the lever that the "trigger" operates. On others it's on the lump of metal with the tapped M6 hole where the philips head bolt in the door jamb screws into. Read it, get the correct profile blank (the first two letters of the code refer to the blank profile) and have it cut on a computerised key cutting machine, the four digits describe the key pattern.

when you start breaking it, put me down for the rear torsion covers and the front wishbones please :)
