would it need a test 1983 i thought 1980 was cut off date

there's a loophole for car-based vans if you have them taxed as a private vehicle. The NCT don't want to know about them as they're "commercials" and the DOE don't want to know about them as they're "cars". The upshot is, you don't need a test. My dad's been driving a starlet van for work on this scheme for the last 10+ years...

won't make any difference... :ROFLMAO:

Loop-hole is closed now but all those car/vans privately registered before that date still are left in limbo.

I know a guy with a Nissan 300ZX which he imported from the UK a good few years back. Somebody in the UK removed the rear seats and blocked up the small rear quarter light windows. When he imported it revenue put it into the category of Car/Van on the system and he has it privately taxed so fell into this loop-hole too. :)

I know a guy that did the same thing with a BMW Z3M coupe...nice :)
