Stale air shroud wouldn't be a '65 feature (maybe my eyesight is going but that's what it looks like). The D prefix makes it a later '65 engine if it is one.
looks a strange one alright. D indicates a 65> 1200 but the fanhousing and heater boxes look like pre 63 ? strange looking squared off exhaust too
I think that style of distributer was discontinued around 64, I stand to be corrected though....
Edit: Maybe its a 65 engine that was dressed up to look early to put it in an earlier car...

Always loved them. Terribly underrated. They look great in black or red. Rear 3/4 view is the best. Huge spoiler on that one is awful. Low mileage tho.
Weird Science, Risky Business, Scarface... 928's are in.

I know this was discussed before (more than once); but what was the deal with these gearboxes again?
Fantastic gearbox perfect for motorway cruising at high speeds.
Although I've been told that their not ideal for drag racing - perfect combo for big engine.

BTW the wording in that Cavan beetle ad is confusing. 'nothing has to be done to this car' and then 'will need some work'
