they're #1, newborn. Have some #2 for 1 month +, might try them. The problem is actually getting air into the bottle to replace the milk that gets sucked out. The bottle is basically airlocking...

Ross, the spare Audi steering setup is complete, still in the donor car. You can have the centre bracket to get you going if you try to replace it later on. Spares for the Audi are even rarer than 1303 parts so I'd like to have it in stock just in case I ever need it.

You can have the rods too on the offchance that they're the same length as the 1303 ones. Same conditions :)

Cheers, Trev! I'll continue the hunt for another while until it's time for the rack to go in, and then I may take you up on that offer. Otto have a set of rods in stock which I'm going to buy so it'll probably be just the centre bracket if anything.

Do you have the ones with the new adapter rings?

yep, exactly those ones.

Two problems, they piss milk out under the threaded ring and they don't let air in to replace the milk. Torquing the ring down tight or leaving it loose makes no difference.

Philips have offered to send out a whole new kit of 6 bottles and teats, fair play to them. At 5 this morning I was fit to fuck them all out the window...

When I spoke to Cormac, he said there was no bracket in the centre on any of the racks he'd seen, and the tie rods bolted straight onto the rack. The picture below gives me the same impression, and now I'm thinking that maybe not every rack had that centre bracket thing. I don't even really understand what it's for.

here's a 1303 rack in a sbay window bus, it has the centre bracket:

and here's my Audi rack compared to your 1303 rack. As far as I can see the rack has bosses to locate and seal the rubber boot to keep the grease in, prevent it by being crushed compared to bolting the track rods directly to it and it also provides a point to bolt the steering damper to . Your 1303 won't have a steering damper so if you made some kind of spacer washer to go between the rods and the rack then you sould be good. You also need some way of locking the bolts securing the rods to prevent them from unwinding. Maybe lockwire would do in place of the little bend-over tabs on the Audi rack.

your call I suppose but you'd certainly need the track rods for the rack, the steering box ones won't do...

Well I can get the track rods off Otto, and theyre not expensive so thats that sorted. I'll see if I can get a centre bracket and boot there too. If I'm going to do this, I may as well do it properly. Is the rack moving freely by the way, Trev?

here's the ETKA page for the 1303 steering rack setup. Note the bracket is present unlike the diagram above. This being the official VAG document I'd go with that...

here's another 1303 rack complete with centre bracket. Recognise it?

what I'm trying to get at here is that VW fitted the bracket for a reason. I wouldn't be inclined to leave it out...

Ah I know, I am going to put one on. I was just saying what Cormac said and showing that pic cause it got me questioning things. I PM'd Brendan and asked him if he still had it. I was going to drop over next week at some stage (maybe Tuesday) and collect the few bits off you if you're around, Trev? I'll bring over those struts for you too.
