May I add one further point about Car Amplifiers.
In Dillon's defense I think it could be very easy for a non expert or inexperienced car stereo aficionado to read the spec on lesser brands of amplifier and fall for their overstated performance, like the one linked below

Not a good brand, but look at the 2200w Max claim, misleading to the novice.
It is also possible to have a 3000 watt system in RMS ,for sound off cars(which I used to fit ) it would be not unusual at all, especially when you run 2 or 1 ohm stable amps like a Hifonics or Rockford Fosgate that would be maybe 150 watts rms at 4 ohms, thats 300 watts rms at 2 ohms and 600 w rms at 1 ohm. times that by 4 channels and even 10 years ago you could squeeze 2400 watts out of an amp , although it would not be cool for long.
New amps put out crazy RMS figures into 1 ohm.
