I'm wondering if anyone on here might have 2 spare 4 bolt spacers (6mm) lying around? I need them to fit different wheels to the bug which has disks at the front. Heritage have them alright but I thought I'd ask here first before ordering. Set of longer (33mm) bolts also required.
Thanx

I have a good selection of spacers but I think my 4 x 130 set are at minimum 20mm wide. I'll check this evening.

Thanks.
I think 20mm would be too thick though. They only barely need to extend the wheel hub past the caliper and the new wheels are already a bit wider than standard. Sure, if you don't mind having a look later I'd appreciate it.

Halfords do spacers, I bought a pair of 10mm ones from them a while back, I think they cost less than €20 the pair. They have different thicknesses too, I have 5mm spacers on the front of my bug to help the wheel centrebore clear the "snout" on the hub. I bought those years ago in Walshes motor factors in Kilkenny so you should be able to find some in the local suppliers.

Padraig, I might be interested in hose 4 stud spacers, would they suit 4x100 do you know?

Trev, do Halfords or Walshes have spacers for 4 x 130 or are the holes in the spacers they have (kind of) oval in shape so they fit different sizes?
Justin - Wondered if that was possible. Wouldn't want to try it tho!!

Halfords do indeed have spacers that should fit. Been pricing up the bolts as the new wheels (EMPI 8's) need longer ones than standard. What have other people done when fitting non standard wheels? Anyone have longer than standard bolts lying around? I'll need 16 for all 4 corners of the car and they're bloody pricey to buy new!!

To my knowledge, as I've had the 8's, I didn't need longer than the standard one's, obviously I didn't have disk's on the front, but even for the back I don't seem to recall having longer one's..., maybe I wrong

I contacted heritage when wondering about the correct spacer and they replied saying I needed longer bolts also (they're a business after all) but when I compared the amount of threads holding the Empi's on compared to standard wheels there's a bit in the difference alright.

put the stock wheel bolt in the stock wheel and measure the amount of thread sticking out the back. This is how much would be holding your stock wheels in place. Do the same with the EMPI wheel and measure again, the shortfall in visible thread is the minimum extra length you'll need. If you're using spacers add the width of the spacers to the extra length needed on the bolt.

If I were you though I'd have a look in the local scrapyards for 2000-on Passats or Audis, they have the same thread bolts that the 4-stud beetle needs but they're longer than the beetle ones. I have modern VW/Audi bolts on my bug with the modern VW/Audi wheels and 5mm spacers. I paid €1 apiece for the bolts in the scrapyard, waaaay cheaper than the ones Heritage and the rest will sell you and you won't have to pay postage either.

oh, the spacers you buy from the aftermarket suppliers have slots as opposed to holes to allow them to fit a range of PCDs.

Yep, Thats what I did. I'm hoping a local scrapyard can help me.
Thanx
