Pox those DCNF's are not supposed to do that, actually they were marketed where you could drive them on the street and come up to a stop and slam on the brakes and have a perfect idle. In both cases stated above it's fuel starvation on hard cornering, float level maybe a bit low, or fuel pump is weak, but most deffo fuel starvation as Mr. Oval says.

werent dcnf's deigned to have the float bowl oriented to the front of the car or 90 degrees from crank centre line on ferraris and fiats in the first place?, hence the age old issue of side orienation on an a/c flat 4 causing fueling issues as the movement of fuel in the bowls on hard cornering is adverse to its original design. I think!!! there was a newly designed float which cured this problem to a degree but i could be wrong. berg tricked out and reworked 42's under the guise of their "42 specials" great old school carbs, i think for "normal" driveability they are very hard to beat, they run really smoooooth. just dont show em a corner lol.

Nice score coxy . There's a set of cb race rods in there too , cam is a bugpack similar spec to engle 120. I reckon you could up the power by removing the shims under the barrels to decrease the deck height as this was set up for turbo spec before and i left the deck heights as they were when i converted it back to carbs

Cheers Barry. Mac gave me a Chinese Burn last night until I cried and said he could have sole custody of it. He's such a bully that fella. I think with the 1835 in Burty and the 1776 poss going into the Cal Look it's only fair he gets to have fun with this motor eh? I'll swap it out someday when he's not looking!

Inside I'm jumping up and down flapping my arms red faced and screaming right now after all the money I spent on my engine to see this come up for this sort of money. I know it shouldn't torment be but it does! Why the hell is it so cheap!? :wallbash::shout::argh:

Cheers for the advice & info lads. Been talking to Laurie about it a while back. He's aware of the problem & knows i have an issue, I just didn't bother to chase it up any further cos i was having too much fun driving it! Its in storage for the winter now, so i'll be getting back to him one of the days again...
