I've decided to sell my fully restored Cal Look Beetle.

For some insight please look up the thread on the restoration https://www.eircooled.com/deforum/fo...al-look-beetle

I first saw this Beetle back in 1989 when I was on school holidays in my aunt's house in Dundrum. Once it drove by me I knew I had to follow it so I ran after it and found the owner's house. From that time on I knew I had it but time passed and the car disappeared. I put up a wanted ad an through total luck I found it in Newtownmountkennedy in Wicklow back in 2012. What followed was a total nut and bolt restoration costing way more than I ever thought and taking a few years longer than I hoped but I wanted it to be right. I have sourced many NOS parts like the Rossi headlights, Baby Tornado Mirrors, gauges etc. Thankfully the interior is the same new interior that was ordered and fitted back in the 1980's, needing only a refurb and valet. I didn't hold back when parts were needed, for example, a brand new passenger door was ordered at a cost of over €450 - I think it was the last door available in Ireland so I was lucky to get it.
The build up was followed in Volksworld Magazine in the Staff Projects section and it has been on display at the 2017 Volksworld Show in Sandown Park.

This has been a no-expense spared restoration and I'm very proud to have saved this iconic Cal Look Beetle, the first proper full-on Cal Look in Ireland all those years ago. The Cal Look has go as well as show thanks to the 1776cc twin carb engine, which has been stripped and fully detailed too.

I have a set of 5.5" Porsche Fuch replicas, chrome and not polish. These Midlands Wheels rims are an excellent replica and would look great under the arches. If they float your boat they can go with the Cal Look for a few quid more.

These are the specs and as you'll see, it's a lot of car for not a lot of money. There are very few Beetles that you can trace ownership back as far as this, especially with countless photographs and appearances on TV and in magazines. I'd love to keep it but having invested so much time and money to get this project restored to such a high standard, I feel it's now time for a new owner to take the keys.

One thing to note is that the feature in Volksworld Magazine is coming up very soon so if you buy it before it goes to print you will be named as the owner.

Thanks Darren. Jimmy the Tow is bringing it to Dublin as we speak. A little sad to see it going off today on the truck but the new owner is going to love it.
