I don't want any comments - I've two Westys arriving in my shed soon (a T25 and a T2) so this just has to go. End of!!!

This is a 1972 Genuine Dormobile with a very original interior and a recently restored body (2007). The engine is a brand new VW 1600 with just under 10k on it to date. This vans drives as well as any you will drive and looks beautiful. This is a family camping bus ready to rock and roll.

Bodywork

All Welding and Resto Done in 2007 by Tom Roberts
Full Respray and Waxoyled
Aprilia purple over VW L90
Lot's of photo's available

As this is my daily driver there are a few small stone chips but the bodywork is basically 100% straight, rust free, and needing absolutely nothing body wise. The wheels have genuine OEM hubcaps (no cheap Brazilian crap) and the wraparound bumpers and everything else are 100 solid metal with no dents or bumps. All lights and stuff work.

Mechanical

New VW Mexico Engine from GSF Fitted (still under guarantee)
New Kafir Carb fitted (expensive German made carb!)
New Aircooled SVDA Distributer Fitted (expensive USA made dizzy!)
All New Bosch Leads, NGK Plugs, and Misc Service Components

Deluxe Clock Fitted

The van does 65/70mph easy and 75/80mph if you really want. It doesn't overheat, it starts first time, it returns good mileage (22+) for a 1600, and it is completely reliable. The brakes work perfect (discs up front) and the steering to tight and responsive. The gear linkage couplings have been replaced and it never drops out of gear or goes into the wrong gear. There are new heat exchangers that work excellently and she runs on fully synthetic oil with no leaks or issues. Everything on this van is stock or in the spirit of running stock at least so all parts are available in Otto or GSF.

Camping & Interior

Original and lovely Dormobile D4/6 interior - sleeps 4, seats 6. I have gone on a mission to replace or repair this interior to the standard it is at. There are now two original Dormobile buddy seats, a genuine Dormobile table, a genuine Dormobile icebox (keeps food cold for 4 days in the height of summer and doesn't cost a penny or make any noise), a wardrobe, sink and drainer, 2 ring cooker and grill, 3 generous presses, running water, underbed storage, and a huge pop top with brand new skylights (genuine Dormobile) and 2 bunk beds (and also very rare Dormobile bunk bed covers. The pop top even has curtains and a shaving mirror. When the pop top is up there is 8 foot of headroom and lots and lots of natural light in this van. This van also has seatbelts in the back (1 x 3 point roller, 1 x lap) and front (2 x 3 point roller) and the two buddy seats are rear facing and fixed to brackets so legal to sit in when driving.

ICE

There is an amplifier, 6 speakers, a Pioneer head unit, and a Pioneer 6 CD changer (installed in the back wardrobe). This is not a boy racer sound system but it sounds sweet and looks neat.

Tax, NCT, and Insurance

Tax is €47 a year, NCT is not required, insurance ranges from €57 to €330 as a second car depending on what else you drive and what level of insurance you want. As you only car it will be €660 to insure comprehensively with Axa. It is on Irish plates and ready to drive.

Price

€14,500 o.v.n.o

Justin - hoping that is him that put on the bid that met the reserve and not some timewaster or wanker.

Deckie - done - cheers dude.

Roadcow - thanks dude.

Everyone else. I'm telling you now this is the best bay to come up for sale in Ireland in a long time - esp. RHD 4 berth early bay - probably best there is almost. At 12k it is a steal, and 14k it would still be losing me a lot of money. I estimate about 20k spent on this van.

Bidder was genuine and a nice guy but he bid 850000 instead of 8500 - he is back now with a 10k bid I see. I was offered 12k cash for it yesterday but I said no - I'm hanging out for 13.5k. Wanda will be displaying her wares at Terenure on Sunday if anyone wants a closer look.

Wanda didn't get to Terenure due to my hangover and the bad weather (I barely got there myself and only thanks to Tom doing the driving!!)

If someone is interested in this van I am open to offers, but I was going to throw in all my spare parts, tools, awning, etc - I'd be happy to take less for the van if the other stuff can be retained.

I spent all day yesterday polishing this van and finishing off little its and pieces. It is waiting for a good home. You won't get a more reliable van than this and a real head turner at that.

Yep - in Roscommon/Longford now - and I love it. The story is that we were renting in Galway and I love Galway, but we decided being near all those pubs was costing us a lot of money in rent etc and with me now working from home commuting was not an issue. Also we want to buy and Galway is just too expensive. So we moved to Ahascragh and got a great big shed and a nice little cottage, but we also got a complete fuckhead of a landlord who lives in Israel and couldn't care less about us or the house. That would have been ok except the septic tank started leaking, the hot water stopped working, and crows started living in the chimneys. I couldn't be arsed fixing any of those problems with someone elses house. However the good thing was that whilst being in Ahascragh we discovered Roscommon (just down the road) and much to my amazement it is a bloody great town - almost more in it that Galway. Then Longford is just 20 minutes away and Lanesborough is between the two on the River Shannon. It is gorgeous here and we just decided to move. I can go fishing out the bedroom window almost, there are shops/schools/etc, there is proper services like bin collections and broadband, you can commute to Dublin fairly easily, and we got a really decent house for peanuts. The power station is a major feature in the town but our good friend Oxegenplasma assures me that on it's worst days the emissions would be less than the general air quality in Dublin or Galway. So there ye have it.

That is my life story and I'm sticking to it.
