This has to be THE best Beetle money can buy right now. I did the feature on it for the next issue of Volksworld and from the minute I saw it I wanted it. Alex Cleal owns it and he lives in Guernsey. He bought the car form a collector who bought it from the original owners family. The lady that had it used it very little and as a result the mileage is unbelievably low at 16,000 miles and the condition is as new.
The paint is the original apart from the engine lid which had a few marks on it that wouldn't buff out so it was given a top quality respray. The original bumpers were rechromed as they had gone off slightly but apart from that it's as it left the factory 43 years ago. When was the last time you saw an interior like this? It's stunning. Everything about it is perfect and everything works. It has the VW feel and smell from the minute you open the door. It's just a timewarp car which any of us would love to have.
Alex is selling as he does a lot of surfing and general outdoor activities so needs a Split bus and with only a one car garage he can't keep both.
The best thing is the price - £7,500 +VAT - Guernsey is part of the Chanel Islands which is VAT free so this must be added prior to the Beetle leaving.
