So, worst case scenario re the 'loads of endfloat'....! I'm assuming shims won't sort it if it's 'loads'... so would I be looking at new crankshaft perhaps......????

PS: Wouldn't be interested in upgrading her, as if the 1500 is as good as I'm hearing then why in god's name would one want to interfere with it. :)

What do you expect to buy for a hundred euro?

Oh a rebuild was always the intention and never assumed in any regard it would be a runner as is, was just trying to get a perspective of what I'd be getting into.

The case would need machining, not the crankshaft. Shims aren't used for correcting endfloat caused by wear. Caddy has a thread up in the workshop explaining endfloat.
