At the moment until I get access to the rest of the car to see how extensive the rust is the price has not been finalised yet. She expects to be treated fairly for what the car is. She would be more inclined to deal with someone who would restore it and have it back on the road. So even as a...
The owner has contacted me with a view to selling her beetle, so i offered to post some details here for anyone interested.
Its going to need a full body off resto as its been laying up for possibly 15 plus years. Its not for the faint hearted. I have not managed to get access to the front...
Same would apply to T3 fastbacks, squarebacks and notchbacks. A few bad cars scattered through out Ireland if you have the time and inclination to make or repair the body parts, otherwise you need very deep pockets and patience for NOS to turn up.
Why after a complete restoration does it have some issues with the paintwork? It might have been wise to register it in Ireland before the resto surely, as now its going to be valued at its current condition for customs and duties, or am i wrong?
Whens the next Dublin meetup, I have a friend living in Dublin who owns a T25 and she needs some advice on some small bodywork repairs thats needed. She would like recommendations of who to go to so she can avoid the charlatans and bad repairs. Thanks.
Not sure its not something I asked as in my opinion its way beyond a viable restoration. Unless of course you have an endless supply of money if you have to pay someone to do it, or a load of gas and miles of mig wire ;-)
At the front end you are going to be facing similar repairs to this, and probably worse. Bumper bracket panels are available, sometimes. Fuel tank supports and suspension mounting s always need repairing, you will have to make one hand and the other hand is sometimes available.front clip always...
Here are a couple of pictures of the types of repair you will need on this car. This is my squareback which is in very similar shape, probably a bit better than the one for sale. First one is view from below the drivers side rear. Second one is a full replacement and making of the right hand...
There is a reason for 1500 quid. Unless you have extreme restoration panel making skills, then this car is not for you. My own squareback is taking panel making to a level above welding in bought panels. Panels are not available, unless you are extremely lucky and have loads of money.
I looked...
Its a beetle, its had work on the heater channels, its a fair bet that that there is work hidden away to be done. You would expect that for the low money thats being asked.
