It'd be negligible the air from this but if you want to eliminate it - plumbers tape on the threads - a copper washer on...
You need the front rad top bleed screw open with it running, n heater on - it's at a higher level than the rear expansion tank.... Start with that .....
You can also use abit of straight sink white waste pipe - 3ft length or as high as ye can get inside the rear of the van to fill n maybe the...

I was under the impression that all European industrial engines were 1600, that only revved till 3600, with the governor....
I thought there's no way they'd keep on the early 1200 with the wibble'wobble crank etc
I thought VW would not risk the 1200 in that application for...
These days you've got to inspect these things carefully n can't take stuff at face value ....
On the other hand further investigation might prove the the old saying "sometimes knowledge can be too heavy a burden"

Wanted -A CT 1600 T25 air-cooled engine - one with missing or cracked heads/head issues, excess endplay/cracked case etc etc or cast off from a diesel conversion might suit.
Would consider a Type1/2/3 engine in a similar state.
Anything that's stuck/sat around missing ancillaries etc would not...
....even if I had, I could never admit to having shagged a tranny...
You might find someone with a bus/bay type2 /early T25 Bus cast off bellhousing, where they've converted to diesel JX/1 y n have no use for the aircooled 4 bolt style bellhousing
