Ok, this evening i managed to find a hour to clear off all the junk on top of the car and pull it out to get some photos. Its actually not as bad as I remember...although still needs plenty of work to get it on the road. Most of the work is fibreglassing area where as previous owner tried to blend parts that bolt together rather than using a rubber trim, so you'll need to sand down and touch up all along these areas ie, nose cone, rear apron, side skirts.

The windscreen is an origianl Pilkington Triple glazed unit but there is a crack in the middle layer. You could run it like this without problem if you wanted to.

It has the proper hydraulic hoses and struts but no pump. The dash is a MkII version which has a centre console too. The side windows are with the car although one side is cracked badly. They were made of laminated glass but in my experience its better to go with Perspex because the laminated glass is too thick to start and not flexible enough to cope with the stresses of the roof as it opens and closes. Perspex is perfect, especially if you tint them! ;)

The engine is a 1600cc Twin port but would need to be rebuilt as the manifolds and carb were missing when I bought the car and my guess if that the inside is full of dirt and crap.

The car also comes with two as new Corbeau Bucket seats with brand new runners.

I'm looking for a quick sale to fund some garage machinery coming this week. If nobody is interested then she'll go back in the corner for a few months until I find the time to build myself a seven type chassis and turn it into a nice track car! :)

Anyway, if you have any questions please let me know. Car is located in Dublin.

those rear wheels look like rare German Mattig wheels. Now obsolete and highly sought after. Nice thing to have there to fill up the rear arches! A similar set of Golf G60 steels for the front and you'd be laughing.

Looks like it has massive potential John, I'll repost this picture as inspiration for the future owner ;)

Cheers Trev....the rear wheel is banded and reversed, only one unfortunately. I'll have to look up that brand you named! ;)

Regarding insuring such a car, surely it's not listed as vw beetle?? so is it more expensive then? or is it classed as kit car, so different bracket altogether?

Hi Marko, I've always insured my Nova as a Kitcar using the scheme provided by the Irish Kitcar Club. Its a little more expensive than your normal classic policy but I wanted to be 100% sure I would have no quibbles from the Insurance company if I ever had an accident. There are other members of the Club who insure their Nova's on Classic Insurance Schemes without any problems as a rebodied Beetle, just like a Beach Buggy which is really no different.

Carole Nash, the Eircooled Insurance provider covers Beach Buggys so I would hazard a guess and say that they would cover a Nova, maybe at slight extra premium but nothing crazy. Still cheaper than the IKCC policy (€800) I would imagine.
