Sounds good. I'll be there, but probably minus the beetle (work in progress).

Now, where's 'there'?

At O'Brians old garage, on the kilbeggan road, just outside the town. I think its a Centra garage.

If you want the beetle up and mobile for that, I could take the engine out of my own beetle for you for a few weeks, until we sort your own, just a thought.:D

Thanks for the offer, Tim. I really appreciate it, and am sorely tempted. But, where would it end, eh? A nice two-tone, burgundy and cream respray for your bug, and some nice alloys? Hmmm.......I like the sound of that......

I'll be there, and, assuming the jalopy hasn't dumped the bride at the side of the road the day before, I'll be in the beetle - if it dies on the run, then t'is an honourable death, and just a bit more motivation to get on with that engine refurb. The AA card shall be ready to hand !!!!

Looking forward to meeting up.

Sure we will see what happens after the brides do. Have you a spare set of disposable overalls for the bride:D

Well if the bug cant do the deed for the 7th, I could always give you the bike, it needs the cobwebs knocked off it;)

Lol! Overalls, spanners, screwdrivers, hammers (big), and a couple of ash plants (for beating purposes and stress relief), will all be sitting on the back seat. Oh, and Mr Muir's bible for reference purposes!

I'd be SERIOUSLY tempted by the bike - but, that could just be re-awakening the beast - not something Jennifer would thank you for. ;-)

If you want the bike for a few months its yours, thats no problem. Its going like a rocket, and is 1000% reliable. Thats your shout. And whatever you and jennifer get up to with ash plants and stress relief...........................................well I,m not even going to go there(y)

Sure I,ll chat you during the week anyway:D

We want to have an engine to work on after sunday, so i,d say that,ll be his primary concern, not whether you get to do your imitation of the duck at the head of the convoy:p

He needs to do a bit of reiki on his engine:cool:

We know some of the issues with his own engine, and it wont be too hard or an expensive fix. Top end rebuild should sort it. I,d prefer to work on his own engine, but thats klause,s shout, as he will be doing the valve replacements ect, and most of the donkey work................so he will.

But thats the 3rd engine he has been offered, so I,d say he is spoilt for choice at this stage:D

.Thanks enda.

Tim, I appreciate the offer of the bike. All i can say is, 'get thee behind me satan!' If i even drove 10 yards down the road i'd have reawakened the beast and would spend the next month scouring donedeal looking for a Virago 1100, and checking ourt insurance. Jennifer would NOT be pleased :) I think i have enough toys at the moment, and the acquisition of another is always just bubbling under the surface - has been since i got rid of the last bike over 15 years ago. That said if i take a head stagger, i will most certainly take you up on your kind offer.

Now, to the engine stuff - sshed clearing is making progress - i nearly have workshop space - but i seem to have accumulated even more crap about the place than i had realised, so preogress is slower than anticipated. But i will be ready to make a start on this in the next 3-4 weeks. I'll defo being doing all the work on this one, as i need to learn and get to grips with this little demon. reading and instructional video watching has already begun. Sure, i doubt that even I can make it too much worse than it already is!!!!!! But then i have a tendency to underestimate my destructive capacities :-0

I'll have you on speed dial though, so don't plan any long trips abroad just yet (or, maybe you should!).

Enda, thanks very much for the offer - i really appreciate it. If i manage to feck up the engines i have here i may be looking for another guinea-pig, in which case i'll give you a shout. At the moment i've got three engines (luck boy); one in the car - needing top-end rebuild, one apparently running one sitting on a pallet, and one seized one, also sitting on a palet. Think i'll start on the seized one and see h ow that goes. This is going to eventually be a complete refurb of the engine and the engine bay - get it all back to the way it should be.

Anuwho, I'll chat to you on the 7th.

Thanks again, chaps.

All the best,

Jason.

Morning All,

I'm really sorry about this, but i'm not going to be able to make it on sunday. Middling length story.

Really sorry about this as i was looking forward to a natter, tyre kicking and coffee.
