Ive 9j's on my 62, theyre wide and will only work with no lowering and stretched rubber!
You can get rims in 10, 12 and even 15j! How wide do you want?

As you say 9j's about the limit for an unmodified Beetle. Your wheels are class. Was thinking of getting 2 standard wheels banded so I can still have the chrome hub cap standard look but with extra width.
