oh shoot, I just let my scrap metal off to the recyclers yesterday. Those cranks are heavy and make at least €5 scrap metal value... ;D

I have no way of knowing if they work or not (do you know of a test procedure?)

If you want to take your chances on one or are looking for a core to have it rebuilt, €20. They are the "3 pin connector" external regulator type.

not trying to do vd out of business, but my van had a lucas alternator out of a mini/morris whatever - so you are not stuck with german parts if you are looking for one

a lucas alternator will cost as much if not more, however there are loads out there for scrap.

Also, you then have a lucas alternator instead of a bosch one. Anyone with any experience of lucas electrics knows how much of a headache their stuff can be. That being said, Ive had very little hassle with anything in my MG by way of electrics. Its just the few problems I did have were a complete nightmare to sort out.
