Most late sixties early seventies Beetle speedos have only 4 warning lights on them. Two red lights for oil and battery a green one for indicators and a blue for headlights. But some speedos (I think the American spec ones I'm not sure) have a provision for extra warning lights for heated screens and other things. Has anybody got one of those speedos with the extra warning lights that they are willing to sell at a reasonable price.

I am also looking for a dash grill for the right hand side of the speedo (the big grill) for an early seventies car.

I think that some of the German/continental ones had a heated rear window warning light as well - you'd have the benefit of km/h markings as well.

I think that Britishleylandman said that he might have a km/h speedo lurking in his shed - might be worth dropping him a pm.

Edit - Mac beat me to it :)

Hi pj I could have some , we'll have a look if your down Saturday .

Good man. How much would you want for it if you have?

I think that some of the German/continental ones had a heated rear window warning light as well - you'd have the benefit of km/h markings as well.

I think the ones with the semi automatic gears had a light for transmission fluid aswell. And some of them had a light to tell you when it was to be serviced.

I see them on 'The Samba' in miles. Just thought I'd try around locally first.

The German ebay ones go for mad money - probably go for peanuts in the UK if showing km/h

I wanted to have my Gene Berg Temp warning light on a different light to the oil pressure light because if the red light came on I didn't want to risk damaging the engine. I might think it was just a bit hot and it might have no oil. I was going to buy a speedo with places with extra lights but in the end I decided to put an extra light on my existing speedo. I drilled a little hole in the face and drilled a bigger hole in the back for the bulb and managed to erect the bulb in it. I put a bit of a 7up bottle in front of the bulb to give it a little colour and wired it all up. So I don't need a new speedo now.
