I would agree that they seem to use donedeal - for the unusual stuff at least! Got lucky when I went for the VRT on mine, loads of cheap t25s on donedeal, they calculated the OMSP as less than what I declared to pay for it (they must think I'm an idiot)

I imported a bus a few years back and they were using the camper club to verify values.... I disagreed with the valuation and challenged there expert opinion. I got a valuation from someone that was more qualified to value a bay and they excepted it. Saved me a few quid. I find with all public departments that if you have what they consider as an expert opinion they will not dispute it. I would be shocked if they were using donedeal to value anything but who knows. BY the way I didnt pay and then dispute, I just disputed. I was told if I didnt pay within 24 hours or leave the country with the bus they could take the bus. I asked was the north far enough away and left it at that.

If I buy a 1981 transporter shipped through Belfast to a Northern Ireland dealer, thats not registered on Northern Ireland plates,,,,,,,,,, what documentation do I need from the dealer to make my registration in Ireland, vrt payment ect, a painfree process.
Thanks for your input.

Not too many in revenue at 20.45 ;-)
Thought someone who had imported might give me the benefit of their wisdom. Will be ringing in the morning right enough. Why Wexford in particular.

Country of origin is South Africa.

Will the dealer clear it for you? If so then he'll need to just give you the V5 i.e. it'll be an import from the UK for you. If you are clearing it from the US you'll need a Bill of Sale, US Title document, details of shipping, etc. A customs agent will clear it for you and give you an invoice for VAT, duty, etc. if applicable. After that is all paid, they'll send the US documents listed above to allow you to register it down here.

Its already cleared by the dealer. I just want to make sure I have all the necessary stuff, when I get it delivered to me, if I chose to buy.
Thanks

You'll need a UK address to pay cheaper customs in UK.

It also needs to be running and to have the appearance of something that starts and stops. They may ask you to start the engine but they won't ask to see it driving. It'll be done by your local NCT office but getting the official involved on the phone may be tricky.

You'll need an SAD (Single Administration Document) to prove duties have been paid

Well you will be the importer into Europe so
You pay the vrt , the amount is decided by black magic
It cant be avoided or controlled
Therefore don't be stressing about it

Why would I be paying customs in uk.

Its been shipped into Northern Ireland , through Belfast. Dealer has customs clearance ect, ect, ready to be mot,d and registered in the north....he has the necessary docs for this now.
If I take delivery of this van now, on South African plates......can I present all the dealers clearance docs ect..........pay whatever vrt now, and get it registered in the South.

Sounds confusing, probably because of the way I,m explaining it.........sorry for that.
