Can anyone give me a headsup on the vrt rates for a 76 camper. Or is there a charge at all.
I,m looking at a 1976 camper that is currently on english plates. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks.

€50 or there abouts I would presume for anything over 30yrs. I've never registered a Bus before but I would presume it's the same as any vintage vehicle.

At the moment it is 50 euros on all vintage vehicles . but all this could be about to change i have heard that the import duty on all second hand cars is going to go up in march . vintage cars are going from 50 eurod to 250 euros and the base rate of 315 euros is going up to 850 euros they are also ment to be changing the rolling year system that we have for the vintage tax at present when your car becomes 30 years old it gets the vintage tax but they are thinking of cutting this off at 1980 any car registerd after that will never be eligable for vintage tax . I DO NOT KNOW HOW TRUE THIS IS ITS JUST WHAT I HAVE HEARD .there is also talk of haveing to nct all second hand imported cars as they come into the country (this shouldnt applie to 30 year old cars as they are still exempt from nct) and they are changing the nct to a yearly test on all cars over 10 years old .

Morning
I no this is an old thread. But what is the current v.r.t ball ache for older vw campervan (68). Have they changed it now to make it a complete rip off or is it smooth sailing?
cheers.

Any update Colin on what VRT Revenue charged you for your 68 camper?

Have just been down to register a 79 T2 Westfalia. The lady in the NCT centre took about 20 pics of it inside+out and said she'd have to send the details to Revenue so they can determine the value. I would have to come back and pay once they've given me the VRT amount. When I queried about it being vintage and therefore a flat €200 she said it's classified as a motorcaravan so might be different. I suspicion I'm going to get fleeced and will have to pay up regardless...before even being able to appeal!

Just looking to see what others have paid for T2 campers in the past few years so I can see what the precedent is.

Thanks,
John

Thanks a million for the info. Came back as 200 in the end so didn't have to pay and appeal. Couldn't tell me at the desk if they'd put a OMSP on it as would have been curious to know how much they thought it was worth!
