I'm looking to buy my first beetle what advice can you guy's give me? Spend figure approx 4k. Not looking to do any work so need to know which better 1200/1300 etc and what else to look out for.

Look out for dodgy repairs, rust on heater channels (conduits that go the length of the cars cab that double as the cill) and make sure all the engine's tinware is in place, for a start. Best thing to do is to get someone who knows a thing or two about beetles to come along with you and guide you. Where in Dublin are you?
Welcome along, as the lads say 4k will get you something decent. If you can get yourself over to Stillorgan next wed evening for the Dublin meet pop along. I find its better to get advice when people can actually physically show you what to look for.
I'm in Stillorgan, conduits and tinware! think I better take my time I have'nt a notion do I found one in Belfast its a 1200 http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/classic-car-page.php/carno/92491For €4k you should easily be able to pick up a very nice car.
