Hi,

A relative of a friend of mine in the UK is selling a 1300S - its tomato red in reasonable nick - basically solid but with a few frilly edges - more cosmetic than structural. I'm not sure if its got the original engine or not - I forgot to take note of the engine number when I was looking at it.

I'd be interested in the car and want to make a fair offer. At the same time, if I decide that I want to sell it in a couple of years I'd like to get back roughly what I paid for it, so I don't want to offer too much or too little.

It's got a reasonably detailed history with some gaps. Five previous owners, I think. Approx 80k on the clock but running very nicely.

What'd be a fair price? STG 2K ish?

Thanks for any advice/opinions.

Id say somewhere around £1500- £1700

Have a look on Volkszone.com they have a lot of vehicle sales posted on there , your pretty sure to find a direct comparison after a bit of digging.

post photos of the bad bits
Has it being restored at any point?
Does it have GT wheels?
I assume disks on front.
Is it still 1.6

Does it look like this?

Thanks very much for all the responses.

I didn't get any photos as I just had my phone with me and it doesn't take great photos.

It has the GT wheels and the black dash so I reckon that its authentic. Its frilly on the wing edges (with a dent on the passenger rear one) and front valence and I reckon that the C pillar (beside the rear window) has been filled - it had waves which didn't seem to be bubbles but may well be filler. The seam into the wheel arch under the back seat has been patched on the passenger side. The floor, sills, and heater channels are fine - all seem solid. Bumpers are reasonably good.

I'm not sure about the engine - I forgot to get the number and the seller is claiming poor eyesight so its not forthcoming - he can't find anyone else with better eyesight either so its probably safer to assume that it may not be original.

I'll start off at STG 1500 and work up.

Thanks again for all the help - I'll post an update if all goes well.

BTW if anyone has a '67 or older that they'd consider selling then I'd be interested....
