Found this site today, great for cheap tyres - I priced up a set and it returned a £23 delivery charge.

Plus they have Nankang 135s for £41.50 (great cal-look size) and loads of 145/65s for the Buckaroo brigade. ;)

they're great value alright, even better than eiretyres.com. I bought the set of tyres for the Derby from Camskill, the set came in around €190, I was quoted €100 per tyre from a local tyre dealer. There's always the problem of fitting them once here and you have to pay a few quid extra for that but I still think on balance it works out cheaper than buying locally...

That's fair enough, but I bet none of the tyre shops here in Cork could supply a pair of 135 R15s.

You can fit tyres yourself if you have a couple of long levers. Easier on steel wheels than alloys as you can mark the alloys easier. I used to work in a tyre shop for years of weekends and holidays through secondary school and college.

I've fitted tyres myself at home loads of times but I can't balance them. It's way easier to do with high-profile tyres than low-profile, there's much more give.

If there's a workshop coming up soon I might give a demonstration of fitting tyres on your garage floor for those buying tyres from Camskill and the likes ;)

I got some tyres from these guys for my Dad's car and saved 100Euro per Tyre ! and delivery was really fast.

I think the tyres were ordered on Monday night and we had them on Wednesday.

They list fitters who work with them on their site too, so no grumpy git moaning at you because he hasn't had the chance to rip you off.

My local guy is pretty decent - he tried to get as close to eiretyres price as he could. Bought 2 17"continentals to go on the missus car. Eiretyres €170each vs Local guy €180each - fitting & balancing included, so it worked out about the same. At the time camskill were €210 each. They have 'em for €130 now tho! Jokers at Advanced Pissflap wanted €280each!!

Trev do you want to do this at your place? Pick some Sat or Sunday maybe in Jan or Feb. There's nothing planned for next year yet or even before the end of the year!

I'll think about it! Seriously though, the tyre demo would only take 10 minutes. I could video it and put it on youtube. Come to think of it someone probably already has...

While we're on the subject. I have to buy four new tyres for my wife's car. What would be the best brand to get without blowing load of cash.
