Yes spools have no spider gears so are a bit stronger, just like a welded diff.
I just took possession of my Firestone racing slicks today and in discussing my trans with both the engine builder and trans builder present we decided to make it as strong as possible so it's getting 002 bus output shafts so that I can use stronger bus CV joints. This will require clearancing the engine cradle and making 3 custom bug axles (1for a spare). The engine builder says our horsepower goal should be between 180 and 2u0. He was amqz3d looking down the throat of the Delortos at how clean the flow was compared to Webers. All in all a good day.

I got my access covers finished today, i really didnt want to pay near £80 for the hookeys hi pacs, and thought there surely must be a far simpler and cheaper solution to this is what ive ended up with.
Stevie Hall gave me a couple of printing plates, i got some self adhesive wiring harness clips, and some magnetic strip on a roll (self adhesive)

this is what ive ended up with.

Nice job. I think mine had three captive/welded nuts and the panels were just 0.9mm steel. Dead handy tho'..

Really need to do this. Have to take the carbs out to get to the rear plugs and they are long over due for replacement!! Good job by the way.
