Darren. Great video, just watched it to the end. Cool to have a video of your car on the track.

That mini sure sticks to the corners.... but you did us proud!!

Jasus, I'm suffering serious car envy now... sniff

I think that the problem with Mondello is that people have had a bad experience in previous years and you can't really expect them to turn up again until they hear that things have got sorted. Maybe next year will see a few more members but I don't see it as any reflection on the club that people who had a bad experience before stayed away this time.

A few people have mentioned that there seems to be a certain lack of 'go' in the club at the moment. It should be obvious to everyone that there are a few people in the club who do a lot and a lot of people who do less (I'm guilty as charged in the latter group). That's an internal club matter and a far bigger and a much more important issue than Mondello.

I think it was pretty bad form that there was such a bad turnout from eircooled considering Ceanne had gone to the bother of organising free passes, and instead people were shiting on about the organisation. There was even an area there for eircooled, and there was no banner or gazebo, and no cars. It was free! Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. I had a genuine excuse, in that I was in Edinburgh, but I definitely would have made the effort otherwise. Fair play to the few who did make the effort, but I'm not impressed, and I am starting to think this club needs a bit of a shake-up. There's feck all functioning events aside from the Dublin meet, and yet when the events happen, they're always great craic.
Don't want to go hijacking the thread but there was a good Eircooled contingent at the Limerick show a few weeks ago. The majority of aircooled prizes that day were won by Eircooled members.

you're more than welcome to join us at the Limerick Show near UL, Martin Murray's show in Monard, Vagdrivers in Fermoy, Millford Hospice show in Limerick, shows in Charleville, Tipperary Show Grounds, etc, etc... don't just assume that because there is a lack of attendance at one show in Dublin that we're making shite all effort in the rest of the country...

None of those events are organised by eircooled. I do take your point though, and in fairness you're right, I haven't been to those shows, so I'm as much to blame as anybody else. I'm using the Mondello show as an example, and one club member went to the bother of getting free tickets for eircooled members, and I know they're disappointed about the lack of interest. It would have been a perfect opportunity for people to give the show another chance. I don't want to sound like I'm preaching, but I'd love to see some more eircooled events organised and more people getting behind more shows. It'd be nice to have more weekend shows instead of one day things too.

Just my 2c as a club we should try meet up and go to any meets/ events/ bbq's / cuppa t's/brekie runs that we can and not necessarily worry bout who runs them .I know two of the most prolific Vw members we have run the Limerick show ,Martin Murray a savour to all runs the Tipp show ,another Wayne McCarthy runs a show in Cork and Type2 Ireland hold super events where people the length and breath of the country turn up ,also there's alot of aircooled peeps not online ,we need to unite not bitch and moan ,give encouragement not hinder ,then we may see a change of mood in the club .
There's alot needs to be said in this club -maybe a special thread set up , if it keeps going like this the AGM will be too little too late to help ,
Rant over , apologises for the hijack .

Oh! A full rally spec mini by the way! :) Couldn't shake him at all!

It's not really a full rally spec mini, more of a weekend warrior, but it is quick!;)

this would be the mini in question

Welcome along Macker. Thanks for the pm. I have to say, the footage you captured in the mini was class. I was delighted to see the all the action recorded. Thought I might just see an odd pic or two when searching Mr Google... I'm sure your son has got an early taste for the track. Great stuff... Definately a full rally spec mini, running race slicks, straight cut cam gear, lightened body, perspex windows, twin turbo.... :)
Cheers
