I'm looking at buying a set of Fuchs soon (summer-ish hopefully) and I'm looking up the prices at the moment. I'd like to point out that I'm price driven as opposed to originality/weight etc, I'ma cheap git, what can I say? I want a black/polished set, not fully polished or chrome. I want them in 5.5" wide with a nice big ET number, I'll be running adapters so the more ET the better. They'll have to come with centrecaps too, no point in having them any other way...

Anyway, the prices I've found so far are all in the UK, in my width, colours and with caps:

MWS: STG £99.95 each ET45

Cool-air: STG £112.34 each ET35 or ET45, depending on whether you want "standard quality" or "top quality" (at the same price, why would anyone opt for "standard quality"?)

SSP: Flat-4 reps: STG £153ea ET45 (not sure if they do black/polished finish, or just polished/chrome)

has anyone got any comments, pointers, advice? There seems to be all sorts of replicas out there, should any of them be avoided? Are they available anywhere else? Does anyone here have a set they're looking to sell in the summer that will fit my requirements?

price?

I'd rather buy them ready to bolt up instead of faffing around masking and painting them. However, if the price was right I'd go the extra mile...

The machine painted ones are cack, they don't have a nice spoke profile.

Can't remember the exact price but was equivalent to UK prices when shipping is considered.

MWS have a bad rep for cracks and casting flaws, I have seen pics of a few of their rims now that are pretty scary. Look for 'variable PCD' on VZi. :ROFLMAO:

Just a thought - you could pick up a genuine set 16x6 ET36 or 14x5.5 ET36 for the same price, or less...

but the 15's are just right for the '80. Don't want too much/too little tyre

I'll do a bit of research on VZi, thanks guys :)

The MWS do look the part now they've changed the casts, but the BRMs and Burners I've seen with the rim simply peeling off would be enough to put me off.

jeez, mixed opinions on that VZi thread. I think Tsar has MWS fuchs on his oval. I'll see what he has to say for himself. The 2009/10 castings are meant to be better from what I've read so far...

Yep, they look good. Haven't heard of any complaints with them either, just MWS in general

Yeap, Ive MWS on mine I picked up about this time last year, I was there when the arrived on the truck!! Ive no issues so far, my cars not concours so why pay $$$$$ to achieve the 'look'. Ive I was a traier queen or made of money perhaps things would be different!

Ben (56Oval) was having a look at them at Dubshed and was impressed, even more when I said they are the MWS ones everyone bitches about! Only let down is yellow tinted centercaps and polished finished is very good but not mirror! You pay for what you get as they say, current state of Irish roads and wet weather normally Im happy not to have high dollar rims, the roads do enough damage to the Oval, at least a damaged rim wont bring a tear to my eye!, Well It will but wont hurt the wallet if I have to replace it!

You pays yo money you takes your choice!

Trev your welcome to have a nose at them!!!

I have the Flat 4 polished 4.5 and 5.5's. I bought them and sent them to CA to be powder coated for an old school look. They loook great. I have owned real ones and other then weight, you can't tell them apart.

These are the Heritage/SSP machine painted ones and the "Heritage" centre caps. To me the paint appears to a bit higher up the petals than on an OG Fuch but they still look like a nice wheel for the money if you're not into detailing them yourself. I think you can just about make out the gold tint on the centre caps also. As Justin said they're a slightly different colour to the wheel.
