My neighbour has a 1989 Toyota Starlet she wants to get rid of, its off the road two years, tyres are ok and should start with a little bit of work. Any body interested in it? or would a scrap yard pay for a car like this?

scrapyard won't pay for it. The best she could hope for if nobody will buy it would be that some scrapmetal guy would take it away without charging her. :)

try putting it on donedeal or gumtree, she might find someone to take it for a few quid. Unfortunately "ordinary" cars of that vintage really aren't worth anything without an NCT.

My mother had one, it was donated to a theatre group for their float in the Paddy's day parade.
They took a grinder to it and removed the roof, but the chassis gave up and it folded in on itself in Broadstone, no parade. :ROFLMAO:

light, reliable, relatively powerful, parts are easy enuff & cheap second-hand & there was a good few of them around. mk2 micras are popular for that too.
