Thanks very much for reading this wanted ad!

12-13 years ago I parted with a beetle I had done everything too, it was in the North West UK, near Chester and was sold and tracked down to have been imported around 10 years ago into Ireland. I contacted the new owner who was really struggling with it and we talked price, but I lost her contact details.

Now I am trying again, so here is a description;

1970 1500 beetle, original registration in the UK CPD 992H
Painted yellow
Suicide doors, they werent done very well!
Deseamed
67 lights and bonnet
68 bootlid
Targa top with removable door tops

It was pretty radical when I finished it, it left me with a T4 engine, bored to 2300cc, but I know that the new owner had this back to a 1600, so expect it to have that now.

I just know it is sat in a field somewhere, but I want it back if it can be found and can assist in greasing the palms of anyone who can track it down for me......

Many many thanks just for reading this!

Nick

I know where it is........well I think I do. I'll upload a photo of it tomorrow and you can let me know if that's it. It was in a warehouse across from my office but I can't guarantee it's still there.

Guys, thats the car, but wow it looks sad! Anyone who can put me in touch with the current owner? Its great to see that it wasnt scrapped.... and yes your right, those hinges were off a robin reliant and I welded them in to the pillar without any strengthening (it was done for speed to get it ready for bug jam way back), never got time to go back to it.

WOuld really like to find out if its for sale....

After this I repainted it yellow and kind of lost interest, it looks like most of the mods I did have been lost now, but the basics are still the same....

These sort of requests could mean that you have no time for the day jobs!

I called to the unit where it was stored but as it was 3yrs ago I wasn't holding out much hope of it being there. It wasn't as it was sold shortly after I saw it but I did track it down to a bodyshop in Limerick. It's nearing the end of a full restoration which has taken nearly 3yrs to carry out.
I rang the current owner and explained why I was calling him but he said he has no interest in selling it currently as he is looking forward to finishing the resto and getting behind the wheel. He did agree to let me pass on his number and you guys can talk. I'll PM you his number. At least you know where it is and the owner might be open to offering you first refusal should he sell it in the future.

This is how she looks now. The Honda wheels are being changed to Porsche replicas.
