1972 Karmann Ghia for sale.

An excellent and rare example with original, solid, never welded bodywork.

Original 1600 AH code engine with a genuine 50,000 miles on the clock.

In everyday use - I drive a 20 mile round-trip to work and I use the car all year round with excellent reliability.

Recent work done includes:

- RARE Eberspacher BN2 petrol furnace heater refurbished (new diaphragms etc), fitted and in everyday use.
- All new Lemforder ball joints fitted to front suspension.
- New rear right inner and outer wheel bearings and spacers.
- Two new cv joints on the left rear.
- New blue brake line from reservoir to master cylinder
- New Calcium Battery
- New Voltage Regulator
- New generator brushes
- New headlining fitted nicely
- New front bonnet seal
- New front and rear windscreen seals
- New pop-out window seals
- New door and window seals
- Two new hinges on drivers door
- New blaupunkt cd/ipod/radio fitted sympathetically
- New oval speakers fitted on rear shelf (existing hole)
- New round speakers fitted on rear side panels
- New bosch 034 svda distributor
- New rain tray, pipes and rubber seals
- New rubber air hose between oil bath and carb.
- New retractable seatbelts fitted in stock location using stock mounting points.
- New 12v window washer pump and switch fitted, using existing washer bottle.
- RARE heated front windscreen fitted with relay and dash switch (in existing hole)
- New rubber fuel lines and clamps in engine bay
- New petrol tank rubber pipes (all of them)
- New handbrake cables
- New accelerator cable
- Bitumen-type sound damping pads fitted to door panels
- Dynamat fitted to roof (before the new headliner was done)
- New driver's side entire window regulator
- Bought original jack and tire iron
- Entire car sanded back to solid paint and resprayed in original colour L50E Adriatic Blue (2008)
- 2 pack ICI paint used
- New rubber headlight seals / nostril seals
- New rubber front indicator seals
- New petrol cap washer
- Wheel rims sandblasted and painted
- Both new rear wheel cylinders
- All new trim clips fitted for the aluminium side body trim.
- Underneath of engine lid was sandblasted including the louvres to remove surface rust and then resprayed.
- New fuel tank sender unit
- Wiper motor gearbox repacked with grease
- New wiper shaft seals
- New window squirter nozzle

Comes with the car but not fitted:
- New passenger side stainless steel mirror with correct, hard to find long arm
- Absolutely stunning new old stock steering wheel, wood and chrome Superior Performance "the 500" model with chrome horn button
- New reverse light switch and brake switches
- New rocker cover gaskets and oil change gaskets.
- New Rear chrome strip for license plate handle
- New rear heated windscreen from VW Heritage
- New foam fitted to floor vents

I have done all of the above work myself, with the exception of the respray which I got professionally done prior to my wedding in July 2008. It required no filler because the body was good to begin with.

The car was originally an autostick, but was converted by the PO to manual, keeping the original engine.
I have the VW birth cert which matches the engine number.
Comes with the original manual with some service history from 1972 onwards.
Note that the car DOES have the drivers side mirror fitted. Its not in the photos because I took it off to polish it.

I haven't done any bodywork because, well, it just doesn't need any. It spend most of its life in sunny Arizona so thats why its in such good condition. You can use the stock jacking points with confidence! Its a left hand drive of course.

Drive her away and enjoy her for €8000.

Re: Karmann Ghia For Sale

Well done. I was hoping that it would stay on sale until I could afford it.... sniff. Of course that could have been years from now.
